Wouldn't that be an absolute nightmare to keep clean in the engine bay? I reckon a smooth surface would work better for upkeep. All the best, Andrew.
Its not bad at all actually. Cleans up just like flat sheet. I had it in one of my Cobras and use the small quilt aluminum fire shield in my 348 read deck lid. I think it would look fantastic. This is a very bad camera phone pic, but you get the idea. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok, here are some pics from various angles, almost finished, in a semi-gloss black. All I've got to do now is tighten up some angles and radius a few curves around the radiator tank in any more I make. I'll have a few cut out and finished after next week's high-temperature testing session in the desert if successful. Unfortunately it's rather hard to get good definition in black, but after all, I guess that's the point in hiding all the disorganized pipes, tubes and gizmos that distract from that beautiful 348 motor. I'm having a hard time deciding between satin aluminum and black. The black blends so well with everything else, yet the aluminum brightens up the compartment considerably. Oh well, executive decisions have to be made----I think, uhhhh, eeny, meeny, miny, mo.... Just from memory, I think the 355 would require a little different design to accommodate the existing side covers and the oil tank. That's next when I'm done with this one and find a mule.
Well, it survived the sprint through the desert to Spring Mountain and the Strip in Las Vegas bumper-to-bumper creep in 105 deg heat without ever getting over 200 deg. No problem. I guess it passed the doesn't restrict cooling test!
