The Wyer 917Ks were nice, but my favorite 917 will always be the "hippie" car!

    Or the "pig".... :)

However, I always thought the long tail spoiled it. No doubt improved the aero, but never looked as good as the short tail.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Hi William, that is a TWR Jaguar XJR-14. These were notable as being basically F-1 cars
with fenders and unique for the double element rear wing and a high revving Ford Cosworth
    V8s.

Not sure how many of these are left, there may be one or two, as a couple of them had their
roofs chopped off while being converted into TWR Porsches which went on to win Le Mans in 1997
which Tom Kristensen drove to his first victory in the 24 Hours with Alborteo and Johansson.

They were gorgeous cars designed by none other than Ross Brawn.

I had a funny little chat with TW leaving after Friday's practice sessions at the 2001 Monaco GP. Gruff and grumpy as ever, and his reputation was likely well-earned. I should ask Brian Redman what he has to say about TW!

I suppose it wasn't a big surprise how TW struggled with Tullius for control of Jag's C-type/IMSA program.

TW is, by many, considered to be one of F1's greatest con-men. But, he did build some nice looking and fast cars and ran some winning teams. RIP TW. We need more characters like him and EJ in F1. Independent-thinking teams like Arrows, Hesketh and Tyrell are LONG gone today and probably are never to return. Too bad, I suppose.

those Mazda's look awesome, sound even better. One of the greatest exhaust notes of all time from a race car.

    Eagle hands down number 1.

908/3..........maybe not the fastest, just the most honest Porsche racer ever. That excludes all else.

I love the Chaparral 2F and Jaguar XJR14 along with the P3/P4. The Jaguar XJR14 did win the FIA championship in 1991 crushing the Mercedes C11 and C291 and should have won the IMSA 1992 championsip had the Toyota Eagle not used elegal Elf fuel!! They only took 1 win away from Toyota Eagle when they should have been eliminated due to cheating all season.

Simple and light...........but I did have a beer or two before posting, so....

A hammer is 'honest', a nail gun is less so.

I'm not sure what the criteria for "favorite" are, but if I could own only one race car it would have to be Ford GT40 #1075.
