    Hello everybody.

This is my first post on the site having recently joined.

I am seriously considering getting a 64 reg FF with 3400 miles on the clock. The only thing that is holding me back is the amount this car will depreciate, especially with the release of the new GTC4 Lusso.

Has anyone got an idea of how much the car would be worth in 3 years, say 6000 miles a year (as I intend on using it everyday). Its up at £187k. What would the future value be? Obviously there are a whole range of factors that we cant predict that can affect this figure, but any approximate guidelines would be welcome.

Would it make more sense to buy an older model with more miles of the clock for less?
Is there any difference between the older and new models? (excluding options)

Thanks for reading my post and if you reply then thank you.

Will definitely be looking to get involved more in the site in the future.

    Thanks

Daniel, hi and welcome to the site,
Alot of guys on here are from over the pond so saying a 64 means nothing. There are alot of good posts and if you check the UK section there are a good few guys with FF's.
It already has taken a good hit at 187 k.
    Have you driven one ??
I have an F12 but not driven an FF but once you drive it you will sell your granny and the kids toys and never worry about depreciation.
Look on it as new. With these miles its nothing. Price a new one same spec and you will be sold
    Cheers Hamish

Daniel, I too have questioned the same things you do in order to truly make an educated decision about owning a Ferrari. Only you can decide what you are comfortable with. I will say that the one piece of information that another gentleman on this board said that struck a chord with me, was that you cannot buy back time. Everything in life has a price. If it brings you enjoyment more than the anguish of the depreciation, do it and don't look back. But be sure you want in because selling at the wrong time can sometimes be tricky (and costly). Just a thought...

If you can afford the car, just buy it. Forget the depreciation and just use it and enjoy it. I'm on my second FF, both bought new and love every mile. Don't even consider what it's cost me. You only live once! :)

Nobody can predict what the car's going to be worth in 3 years, with or without the new model about to be released.

The FF truly is an amazing car. You won't regret it!

If it were a new car the basic calculation would be to lose 50 % over three years - you'll probably do better but don't predicate your finances on that - the system knows that every new or nearly new car is tarted up or replaced on a 3-7 year cycle so you're not going to beat the system but then again nor are you going to suffer abnormally as a result

    (UK 64 plate = registered 1 September 2014 to end February 2015)

depreciation hits you only when you decide to sell the car, as long as you own it, nothing happen. the only thing you will regret is the time you did not had one. you need to consider a new, fully loaded GTC4 will be around 350K+ EUR so still a huge cap compared to the pre-owned, low milage FF. I would always choose the lower miles over the one with more miles. 3400miles is nothing, its almost a new car for a fantastic price.
The FF is amazing, the GTC4 will be as well. I personally like the GTC4 outside but I'm not sure about the interieur, maybe to modern but thats personal taste. I owned many F Cars and last year I got a new FF and its one of the best Cars I ever had.

in 3 years, your FF will have 30-40K miles (you will drive much more than you think) and maybe price will be 100K£ maybe 80, maybe 120. who knows? you can decide if you put another 40k miles on it or if you sell the car and get a pre-owned GTC. the pre-owned GTC will be at 180/200/220 who knows?

Get the car your bank account allows you and be happy. you will not regret it - promised.

Well done Daniel, you're going to love it!

Got mine last August (used 2013 FF) and it has been fantastic.

You wont see any used GTC4 Lusso until well into 2017 so I wouldn't worry too much about a sudden glut of used FF hitting the UK market. Also remember they only sell about 30 FF's a year in the UK.

    Enjoy!

It could not be said better! I too am on my second FF. You will love it Daniel. Drive it like it is a rental car and enjoy it. I baby mine until the engine temperatures are up then start having FUN. The FF is Ferrari's best kept secret.

..as a transplanted Brit, I wish the UK would revert to a more logical 'year' system of registering cars. Congrats on your new purchase btw.

    Hello, and welcome.

You might peruse this thread as well, one I've been active in as I've been pondering some of the same concerns which also led me to this part of the forum.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/612-599/498230-612-oto-market-values-higher-than-ff.html

Going with an older model, if you want the F1S, won't move the needle much. OTO's are scarce and the price of nice examples is already starting to blur with the price at the lower end of the FF spectrum. You'd have to step down to an early 612 and then you're dealing with older tech, steel brakes, older F1, but you will avoid too much depreciation if you do. If you intend to keep the car, and you like the FF, I've heard nothing but raves from owners. You've already gotten so much depreciation out of the way with the '12's, many of which were loaded with options that really ran up the stickers, that you really shouldn't feel too bad getting in now.

I think the GTC4's pressure on FF's is a way off, couple years maybe. When a fair number GTC4's are hitting the secondary market and most '12 FF's are no longer selling certified, out of warranty, that's when they'll start dropping a little fast maybe. Just one man's opinion.

Drive it good and hard (after warm up). They like to be driven. New warranty can be extended for around 13,000 USD for 2 years. Then the Power warranty is 6500 up to 12 years old. Or save the money in a pile for a rainy day.

Congratulations-I've had mine for a year now, these cars are very very good.
I reckon these cars cost about £2500 per month in depreciation once the initial hit from new is factored out and it looks like you got a great deal at <£190k.
I always think, would I rather have £2500 more in my bank account each month or a ferrari in the garage?
Assuming you haven't had to sell the family to fund the purchase, you made the right choice :0)

    Cheers,Bob

In the US not that much ... but more importantly than the depreciation is that it's not forever ... eventually things slow or even level out, something very few cars do.

    Hi Daniel,
Congratulations on taking the plunge. Best car ever by a long way, for me anyway.

Where did you buy from, Meridien?? if so and it is the Titanio 2014 car with Crema that is a cracking car that cost new about 275k so at 187 you have already seen off a big percentage of the depreciation. As others have said the Lusso will not be around our shores until Jan Feb 17 and probably well north of 300k and in two years time I bet yours will still be worth 160 +. Imagine you could have fallen in love with an Aston Rapide and paid 160 for the pleasure to be told after a year we will give you 80-85 for it. Enjoy, happiness is fleeting.

Sorry new to this. Some pics of the car poorly taken in a rush at the dealership.

The car has some 50k worth of extras on it.

    I can list if required.

That's the one, well done good choice. Heck of a spec car with very elegant colour combo. Meridien are very good to deal with and will look after you very well.
