I wonder if anyone knew of a company making some real wood dash parts for Mondials? This site got me thinking.... Walnut, Cherry, Red Oak, White Oak, Poplar, Bird's Eye Maple and other hardwoods dash and trim for FIAT spiders
I think that it would look good; especially if you went with a wood rimmed steering wheel. I love the Mondial (especially mine!), but I do think that the plastic interior trim pieces are out of place. I would be more inclined to replace the plastic with metal, but wood could look stunning.
I agree - it won't look right. Ferrari did use wood in the past but I think it would be odd to see it on a Mondial.
Was a wooden steering wheel and dash parts standard in the 400 series? Has it been in any other models since?
Yup, I couldn't think of any newer cars either, but hell it's your car go for it. Also, if you were careful a few wooden dash panels could easy be exchanged with the originals. I saw a Mondial with a boxer paint scheme and that wasn't 'blessed' by the bunch behind the gate but I thought it looked pretty slick. That could be easily sanded/resprayed back to orig also.
The only choice and I will do this someday. I'm not a fan of the cheap thin plastic panels in the center console of the t. Dave
I don't think carbon would look good at all in the Mondial -- the interior is too "vintage" and I think that the carbon would look out of place. Wood would be period appropriate for sure, and the Mondial's flat interior surfaces would support the medium. Anything has to be better than the plastic, though.
