I searched but couldn't find the thread... Not the toggles, but the cheap metal catches the toggles catch onto that are screwed into the windshield header... Mine are worn down very badly. I thought I saw someone here had made some new ones out of something more solid than the soft metal stock ones. ? help. Chris
Hi Chris, One of mine broke 2 years ago and ended up getting one from Ferrparts, but you can also check with Daniel@Ricambi: Ferrari Mondial Hood Catch Plate, #61758600 Part # 61758600 HOOD CATCH STRIKER 61758600 STRIKER : Ricambi America Ferrari Parts HOOD CATCH STRIKER Not sure if anyone has fabricated this piece, but my new one seems strong enough and they are fairly cheap enough to have spares. I broke one last summer in my learning on how to properly close the Mondial top. By chance there was a spare set in the trunk when I got the car. I keep the other one in case it happen again.
Doesn't Gianluca make those? I make the toggles and Center Vent Wedge and Foam Rebuild Kit. I'd touch base with him. - Ron Frohock
Hi Ron, GianLuca does not make that part. He makes the sliders that connect to your toggles. But he could be persuaded to make those, they guy is incredibility talented. cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrparts and ricambi have only the whole set including toggles (for heart stopping cost). I'll start seeing who can machine a couple locally.
Looks like the (Part # 61758600 HOOD CATCH STRIKER) now says its NLA! no longer available. That's too bad, FerrParts was able to order one for me 2 years back but I'm sure a machine shop can fabricate a stronger one. I'll ask my friend GianLuca but he's currently in Italy. Cheers
A while ago and had them black anodized. Much better than original for sure. I'm sure I have them around here someplace. I'll have a look when I get home. I dropped the project when I found out that you could buy new OEM pieces for $55.00. - But now that they are NLA........ Thanks Ron
I'd likely keep the Rutlands price. I'll have to look at material cost, machine run time and lot charge for the black anodize. I'm sure I made about six parts about a year ago. I have a pair on my car and they are great. I'm traveling now and won't be home until Friday of next week. I'd be happy to send them to you then. Is anyone else interested? Ron Frohock
Ron: I'll take a pair. If I get these I have completely a new entire roof latch system. I already have the toggles and the threaded slides installed. This will be one system I actually never need to think about, ever again. Pretty cool if you ask me (on a Ferrari!). **My luck the window header will crack or something DavidJ
