I own a full size truck specifically to piss off hyperanal ambulance chasing trolls from the southeast.
Before the H2 my wife owned a Honda Odyssey which is a wonderful family vehicle. Pleaty of room, performs well, looks good and is very reliable. I wish she still had it!
I like my Tahoe. Great SUV, and I enjoy wasting the gasoline that all the Hollywood weenies save while driving their hybrid cars...
Oh great, another reason for parkerfe to hate SUV's. His Ferrari would not have derailed the train Fatal Morning Commute At least 10 people are killed after commuter trains crash in suburban Los Angeles. Authorities say a suicidal man left his SUV on the tracks. He survived.
Don't know if you need to be sharing your personal info. Nice work on buying a Miata though. lmao I would be very bitter also if I had to put this in my profile : Other Cars Owned: 95 Miata Previous Cars Owned: 93 Miata, 78 RX-7, 87 Toyota FX-16gts
Since your moronic comment was aimed at me I will address your ramblings. No, I am not in construction or a farmer. Seems a TRUCK would be better for them. I could careless about what you think of them. Not that I need to explain WHY I got my wife the car but here is goes. She towes a RV trailer that is 4000 lbs She is always carrying 5 or more passengers. She needs the space when she goes camping I did not asked for permission nor did I need to to get one so keep your idiotic comments to yourself. Did I mention that you are a moron? I doubt you care what I think too. See, it works both ways. Image Unavailable, Please Login
While I couldn't feel worse for the family, that's not quite the whole story. "The car just lost control at 35 mph in 2 inches of snow....would they have survived in a honda civic? possibly..." The driver of the H2 lost control, the H2 didn't lose control of itself, hit a median and then hit the back of a tractor trailer, then was hit by another tractor trailer from behind. The kid's were in booster seats, but the adults weren't wearing seat belts. You think the civic would have been safer? Let me know if you want a link to the story. By the way, I have owned 3 Hummers, and other SUV's, along with many high performance cars. I like them all.
Well I look a fool now don't I I'm glad to see someone who actually goes offroading though, it's a good time. I shouldn't have jumped the gun like that, but, I have met lots of people who go "off road" only to find out their driveways aren't paved yet, or they had to park on the grass at a mall.
Not the first time I've seen an SUV thread here, there or anywhere make for an impassioned topic. On one hand, you have bridesmaids who will wear a bridesmaid's outfit (again), on the other, no. One can only hope that if the bridesmaid does wear it (again), it's not too obvious that the outfit was purpose-built, and should not be worn unless she makes it look good. Really good. Name your poison - Q: Do I look fat in this dress? A: Yes Q: Do I look fat in this dress? B: No No matter how you answer, you're either lying or telling the truth. SUVs are anathema to parkerfe, and his honest opinion regarding SUVs is apparently regarded as equally accursed. He does make the distinction that should one get an SUV, one should put the "U" in SUV, so don't bash him simply because of his adamancy. After all, he's occasionally got to wear a dress that makes him look fat, and he doesn't like it at all.
I would say you should worry about yourself, "unless your pefect and can walk on water" Don't worry about what others drive. Who died and made you the boss of what people should drive. Next you'll be worried about our skin color or our religious beliefs. Try learning ACCEPTANCE.
Hmm...guess sarcasm hasn't quite made it out to Kalifornia... How come you didn't list the Mustang? And why should I feel bitter about the cars I've owned in the past? They're were all great, except for the 96 Mustang GT...what a POS.
Crap--this is the second time since the inception of this board that I have to agree that Frank has a point. Anybody who says they drive an SUV because they like 'em--no argument. It is like Ferrari vs. Porsche vs. Lambo vs. Aston--you gravitate toward what pushes your buttons. I think part of Frank's point is that most people would be better served (less $ on gas, insurance, less evironmental impact, greater safety in terms of better stopping distance and better handling) by AWD wagons, AWD minivans (now only the Toyota Siena) and the like. This argument was very true 10 years ago. With the advent of car based SUV's, better brakes, stability control systems, etc.--many SUV disadvantages have been minimized. Now to fess up. I have an AWD minivan and have loved it. Still actually like it. But it is getting old and failing, and needs to be replaced. I am looking for an SUV--and not at the Toyota Sienna. There are 3 main reasons: 1) I never needed personnel capacity, I needed cargo capacity, and that need has diminished, 2) The vehicle will be used to access mountain biking/hiking/fly fishing venues ON A WEEKLY BASIS during the summer--on roads on which I have stuck a Jeep Wrangler with 35 inch mud tires, and 3) I hope there is a race car and trailer in my near future, and I need a vehicle that can tow. So I can buy this beast and let it sit in driveway during the week and drive something else to work (a whopping 4 miles each way--wouldn't a 911 turbo engine love that duty) or I can save money on an additional vehicle's insurance, depreciation, etc. and use a hated SUV as daily transportation. Environmentally, the arguement isn't clear either. One of my likely choices (V8 4runner) gets similar city milage c/w my current M3 cab. The Toyota has a ULEV2 engine--less emissions. And given that I am going to buy new--imagine all the environmental damage that comes from making me a second vehicle that would be a daily driver (pollution from smelting steel, mining bauxite for aluminum) and so on. These are the confessions of a former rabid anti-SUV person. But SUV's have changed, and ever persons situation is unique, and Frank needs to look to his liberal core and realize that everybody leads a differnt life, and he needs to introspect on those differences.
I GUESS WE KNOW WHO WEARS THE KNEE PADS IN FRANKS HOUSE BTW FRANK, WHY DID YOU START THIS THREAD?? MALE MEDAPAUSE, HAVING YOUR PERIOD, OR JUST WAS BORED AT WORK?? I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR THREADS FOR YEARS, NOT ALWAYS AGREEING ON WHAT YOU SAY, BUT NEVER HAD A ARGUEMENT WITH YOU, BUT JEEZ FRANK...DONT BASH PEOPLE FOR SUVS.........NEXT TIME LOOK AT YOUR WIFES CAR..THAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR..............VENTED......
