Don't waste your time at the Car Corral...its just a big parking lot with a lot of Corvette's, Bimmers, etc, and NO REAL SECURITY. Park at the Legion across from Gate 5 (very close to your seats) with the other FCA cars in a fenced in lot, and enjoy a few coctails after the race while the traffic disburses. Contact Joe Adams at www.fca-cic.org for reservation.

Bring your sunblock. Prob won't see pit exit from H unless you are way up top. You will like these seats if you can stand the heat.

Driving up on Wednesday, will be there thru Monday. What else is going on besides the racing? I went in 2005 and there was an f-car show in a beautiful square downtown. Anything like that happening this year?

    Dave,
Are you going to FCA dinner again? For the life of me I can't remember if I signed up. I am waiting for them to publish the guest list.

Weather permitting I am planning on driving the Ferrari up to Indy for the race. Anybody else planning on doing the same from Louisville area. Maybe we can ride up together.

Friday night, 6/15 4pm to 8pm. The cars will meet at the Zoo at 3 and then parade to the Circle. I'm driving my GT4 down, weather permitting. I've been to the event and drooled over the cars,(which I'll still do, btw!) but this will be my 1st year to actually be in it. I'm excited as I'll get to meet local chapter guys.

Where is the zoo and the Circle? I'm guessing it's the same place I went 2 years ago. Look anything like this?

    Gordon,
Welcome to the neighborhood. You'll also be sitting with my wife and I, and my brother with his daughter. All these seats are together. I think you'll like the seats, they are right where the brakes glow orange for turn 1.

I'm going to have to google the location of the zoo. The club is holding a staging area at the Zoo then driving with police escort through downtown to Monument Circle (very center of Indy). The picture you attached is correct. It runs from 4pm to 8pm...

Just out of curiosity, how long are you in the USA and what else will you be doing? First time here or not?

Hi Bill. I have made a few visits to the US but the last few have been work related so have had very little time to get around (we have a manufacturing plant in South Bend).
To be honest this trip is hardly planned down to the minute - we have the GP to do, a hotel booked in Chicago downtown for the following Fri/Sat and a rental car in between. I fancy a day in St Josephs (the guys at work said it's nice). Any suggestions welcome!

Cruise the Western Shore of Michigan. Take the scenic route, its marked. St. J is ok, but I think South Haven is much nicer. There are some 'gay friendly' hamlets along the way if that is your bag. Watch your ass if it ain't your bag! LOL. South Haven has a racetrack, so you might stop in and see what's cookin there. Northern Indiana has Amish communities if you want to see 'old world' lifestyle. The casinos in the Midwest are a joke, so don't bother unless you just "must" gamble. In Chicago, be sure to catch a game at Wrigley Field if you can. Take a look at the City from the top of Lincoln Center. Check out Grant Park on a sunny day. The riverside area is nice for breakfast and lunch. Best roadside food is Cracker Barrell. What else? Have fun. :)

Jim is right on. Saugatuk, Michigan is the town where you need to watch your backside, other than that, all the shoreline towns are nice. I lived on Spring Lake and there and Grand Haven has a nice beach, pier, etc...with lots of bars and food shops. Also just a bit further north at Muskegeon, Mi. there is a high speed ferry to take you across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin. That would be a neat way to work around back to Chicago. Lots of fishing charters in the harbor towns if you'd like to try that. Northern Indiana also has a nice sand dune state park. The race track mentioned is Gingerman, their evet schedule is on their web site.
