Those little SOBs at Amazon just cancelled my order without anywarning. I didn't even get an email. My search for a PS3 now resumes all because of Amazon.

The bubble bursted within days of the release, lackluster launch titles, unstabile 1st generation unit still has many glitches (overheating, software issues, "blinking red light of death" etc...) Sony promised the 400,000 machines in the United States for Friday's launch and about 1 million by year's end. Worldwide, it was expecting 2 million this year, half its original projections.

So, who is re-selling their PS3's? I was, but honestly, prices are not what I had hoped for. What's the strategy? I am holding onto them until mid December, but so are others who will then again, flood the market. I'm thinking about just letting them go cheap, screw it. I feel like an idiot for turning down multiple $2000 offers. I knew I should have taken them, but my brother in law was telling me no, so was everyone else...eventually the greed got to me. It's a killer.

I don't think prices are going back up - the people who HAD to have it were the only ones ponying up $2k+ for them, and they all got them right away on fleabay. Better off to sell it ASAP because Sony keeps shipping hundreds of thousands of them monthly, the supply is just going up and up and demand is going down and down as more hit the market.

I'm trying to find a Wii for a friend of mine's kids. I might just have to camp out but I really don't want to go that far.

Situation seems to have changed... apparently the Wii has been the "one to have" and stores cannot keep them in stock. Furthermore, Nintendo has not been able to keep up with the demand for them. Amazingly, prices seems almost equal between Wii's and 20gb PS3's. Amazing considering the PS3 was double the cost retail that the Wii is.

If you want one, you have ONE chance. This Sunday, the 17th, Nintendo is shipping big orders to most stores. The word on the street is that Target/Walmart/Circuit City/Best Buy will have them. Most of these stores are gonna have folks waiting outside a couple hours (or more) before they open. If you are willing to show up at 5am for an 8am opening time, you should be able to get one without too much trouble.

    Good luck!

Yeah I'm debating that... there is a Starbucks and Target/Walmart/Best Buy/Circuit City all close to us. Maybe I can pass the time looking at my new Rubberclad :)

The trick is getting the girlfriend to go >:0
