Thinking of changing my wheels on my 89TR. What are the thoughts out there on the choice of 355 or 512TR wheels and tires.

I went thru this same thing recently. About two months ago I was surfing evil-bay at 4:00am(had a bad dream)and found a set of speedlines with a "buy it now" price. Seven days later, they arrived at my door. No spacers needed. 18 x 8.5 for front, 18 x 10 for rear. I think these are the best looking rims for a TR.

I think both the 512TR and F355 wheels will need spacers to fit a TR properly. I too have asked this very question for my TR. I currently have 360 Modena wheels on it and it really updates the look of the car. But my heart goes with the 512TR wheels over the F355 wheels, even though they are very similar in appearance. But cost-wise I've found 355 wheels to be generally cheaper than 512TR wheels. Bottom Line: the 512TR wheels look best on the car, they have the correct "style" and thickness of spokes to match the TR's shape. Nothing looks better in my opinion.

Phenominal rims. IMO TR's, 348's, 355's, 550's look perfect in speedlines. good choice!

Putting 355/512TR alloys on a 512TR is the equivalent of trying to make a TR look like a 512TR which is a mistake as the 2 cars are different from each other. The standard alloys that come with the Testarossa suit the car better than any other alloy out there, otherwise Enzo Ferrari wouldn't have chosen them in the first place. Better wheels would be the same ones but bigger, like the two similar wheels pictured below. They are sold on WWW.IMAGEWHEELS.CO.UK you can choose the dish of the inside piece and the finish amongst loads more options. I'd personally go for matt silver finish just like the originals and in an 18" size option.

Of course, it's not just about the wheels...

For real driving enthusiasts... tyre choice is critical... and 16" or even Metric tyre sizes don't present a great choice for TRossa..

To confirm.... TRossa need 15mm spacers front and rear to fit TR wheels. Of course... 15 mm longer wheel bolts too.....

This thread is a couple months old, but thought I would bump it since I'm contemplating the same thing and have found a few pics. I think this is with 18 inch TR rims, but correct me if I am wrong. IMO, this is the best looking wheel upgrade for the Testa, but I do like the Speedlines, as well as those killer HRE jobs.

I have some 1993 512 TR wheels for sale. I did the Brembo brake upgrade and 19" Fikse wheels, so they've just been sitting around as the stock wheels won't fit over my Brembo's.

Just to clarify, those pics are not of my TR. I think I found them from a listing on ebay or something- downloaded them b/c of the rims. Wouldn't want the rightful owner of the car, whoever that is, to be upset!

I am, however, trying to import an '89 TR as we speak, from the U.S. to Canada. Will share pics once it gets here.

    Thanks.
