No WAY is that heavy York unit going back in there.
I have all the original brackets, but am willing to buy (or make) new brackets if i need to.
    Thanks,
    Doug

Sanden is lighter, more efficient and was used in the non US QV and later.

So, there are commercial, Ferrari brackets available? Any chance they would fit the 308, or will i be doing bracket modifications?
    Thanks,
    Doug

We fitted a Sanden compressor; I believe we used a bracket made up for a Pantera which Ron McCall modified to fit (McCall's Auto Works, Hampstead, MD) Obviously much lighter. Because it's still cold here, he has not charged the system yet, which remains R-12, but will do so in the spring and make sure it all works. Note that because of the way it's mounted, you need a reverse-rotation Sanden compressor; the mounted compressor faces the engine instead of facing "out" from a position parallel to the engine. The difference in weight is dramatic.

In my opinion the Auto Air installation is garbage. I bought the mounting parts from a totalled Mondial, they all used Sandens but a slightly longer model, and I modified the pieces to accept the shorter unit used in the 308/328. It requires the front bank belt cover too.
