I find it amazing that Wayne will be performing at the hooker bar lounge at Caesars and I almost want to check it out. This might be wild having the show in a lounge venue. I wonder when the last was that WN played a Las Vegas Lounge.
Wayne hasn't been able to sing for years. In a small venue like Cleopatra's Barge, this could be a show with a cult following. It will be interesting if he can put a band together out of musicians he doesn't already owe money to. It might be a one-man show. Wayne is a Las Vegas treasure.
He certainly is Vegas royalty. I've never seen him or really ever had any interest, but thought the old Vegas lounge vibe could be cool with a few drinks.
Have you ever had drinks at Cleopatra's Barge? There is a rather higher than average hooker to john ratio IMHO. I used to take clients there so they could tell their friends they were propositioned in Caesars Palace. The last time I was there with a client two working gals approached us and asked for a light. I gave them a box of matches and told them to have a good night, I'm a local.
Perfect venue for Wayne. On a boat in a casino singing Danke Schoen. This may be really cool in a not cool at all kind of way.
I saw him over at Ballys with my Mom after touring his house a year or so ago (Maybe more). He was doing something like Tuesday early evening shows. It was a highlight for my Mom and I have to say I enjoyed both the show and the house/stable etc. tour. It was a piece of history I am glad I got to enjoy.
Finally got a chance to see him on tour a year or two back. The Midnight Idol still puts on a great show IMO. It's cheesy, Old Vegas fun. Given his age, mid-70s, he interspersed song & dance numbers with some video montages, like scenes from his many USO tours. T
Do you remember several years back when Caesars' bean counters proposed closing the Barge? There was an uproar (I wrote 'em an email too). Some things are just SACRED. We don't hit it every time, but my wife and I enjoy having a drink there for old time's sake...we remember when a glass of Champagne was $ 5.00 !
No doubt, and of course the Galleria Bar just off the lobby was a meeting place for "companionship" for decades. It used to be known as the Gonorrhea Bar back in the day.

LOL. Let's just say I have helped out more than one fellow that was missing a watch and a wallet. I had a client pass out in a limo with three strippers and he lost it all including his shoes and belt. Where do you stay when you visit Las Vegas?

I've been beside him going into the courthouse. Looks like a tiny, wax figurine of Wayne Newton. Also been behind OJ in line too, years ago. My friend was one of his lawyers. Smaller than you expect too, and a hunched arthritic gait, but giant noggin.
I still don't comprehend how Nevada ended up with OJ but it appears that OJ is doing quite a bit better than WN at this point in time. OJ is playing golf and WN needs a gig.
