    HI Guys,

Any of you recommend any mechs who know about 400i's inside and out?
Trust worthy is key...I dont want guys swapping engines with me.

I live in the NY metro area and any near me would be great. Although, please also let me know about the ones you think are the best even though they
    are not as close.

    Thanks again!

I would go to Bill Pollard at SportAuto in Gaylordsville, CT - not too far from NY and he is very good.

Alternate would be Francois Sicard, also in CT. I highly recommend him but it's difficult to get an intro. and he often has a backlog. He only does old Ferraris.

Bill Pollard DOES know 400is insidea and out - he supports my 400i daily driver and my other Ferraris - he is THE BEST! Mention that Alex referred you so he doesn't think you are a tire kicker...

Have a great drive, and take some pictures. I'm collecting mine from Bill on Friday. Can't wait!

No website that I know of. His rate is $89/hour. Tel. 860 350 1515.

Tell him Aidan, Alex and Dave (alphabetical order!) recommended him!

I am a past owner of a 400 GT and current owner of a 412. I have serviced both at Berlinetta in Huntington (631-423-1010) and Doug Pirrone knows the cars very well. Highly recommended.

    It doesn't matter.
You want it right, or do you want it cheap?
You pick. You don't get both.

I had a customer tell me that all the trouble with his MB 250SL was because the last mechanic swapped in a junkyard engine and stole his good one.

Showed how little he really knew about cars. Still looked like the original stuff to me.

problem is Bill is way too far away from me...like 2hrs+ to get to him.

It's a bit far...so many miles will went up on the car rather than enjoyment miles. =)

Of course, it will probably be less time and miles in the long run because with Bill you will only need to bring it once - the other mechanics may only be an hour away, but once you bring it back 3 times to get it right it washes... :)

If Francois is available he is at least of Bill's calibre but many consider him less customer friendly (personally, I like his charater and personality). He is near Katona (I never remember the official name of where he lives).

I know he still maintains a few 400s.

    Regards,

    Art S.

PS. Though mine is not a 400, I've never brought it back because something wasn't done right - not something I can say about many mechanics.

PPS. I'm in NJ and I think he's worth the (117 mile one way) trip.
