+1, to Shield or Not is a matter of taste, just like some people like Prugna over Rosso Corsa, its all good and if you are happy with it, that's all that counts ! Dude, its your car, you paid for it, so you get to make it your own, just don't paint it PINK please :):):).

    Hi Todd,

Great photo of the 3 cars together.

Not sure if you know but the shields are the wrong size (too big) and in the wrong place.

    Cheers.

Isn't the "To shield, or not to shield" issue very, very similar to the dreaded "To V12 or not to V12" issue?

Bottom line: It's a Ferrari, regardless - so let's just enjoy them!!

    Ciao.

Love it! Just trim into a shield shape and it will be perfect!

This is timely, I just received a set of shields I ordered. Unfortuately I did not pay attention when ordering and got 2" shields. Have replaced the order to get 4" ones. Have placed one of the 2" shields on the car, and really have not made up my mind yet. One part of me says stay original another part says keep the shields on the car.

One thing I did notice when placing the 2" shield on the car is, it did not seem to have much of a magnetic pull. By that I mean the shield did not seem to be held on tight to the car's fender. Have not driven the car with the shield yet, but will give if a go later this week. Anyone running with the smaller shields and having a problem with them staying on the fender?

Are all the people, who like the shields on their cars, afraid people don,t recognize them driving a
Ferrari??? What is there to proof?? It is not original, everybody knows it is not a modern car, who have them as a standard sticked to te sides (458, enzo, california) Accept your car as it left the factory, I mondial will never be something else, despite all the effort of putting shields on the sides. Thank god for that!

I put 'em on mine so people would stop mistaking it for a Miata.

IF they mistake it for a Miata, the shield will make little difference.

even five year aged toddlers yell FERRARI when they saw the Mondial.

lol, I once had a lady at a car show ask me if my car was the Miami Vice TR? I said absolutely it's the car minus the red color, v12, and ginormous cheese graters ;)

    I think Milko means this:

And I'm largely a purist as well. So no badges for me either :)

Well as far as the "purist" thing goes, once you begin maintainence on your car, it's no longer original or "as it came from Marinello". If your cam belts say "Dayco" or "Gates" and not Ferrari, there goes the whole "keep it original" thing. How many have changed wheel styles? How many have "non-dealer" installed sound systems. Anyone replaced their tops? Oil Filters (OIL!!!), etc...? It's your car, do what you want to it. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. The general public are ignorant of cars anyway. Look at the crap they drive. People used to think my Lotus was a Countach, my Moto Guzzi was a Honda, and that my 420 SEL was diesel. Beleive me, you're not telling anyone "this is a Ferrari" with a badge. They don't even know what SF means. Now, 24" rims with spinners.....

From a very successful retired Naval Admiral.

He said the very first thing that should be determined in making decisions is wether of not the decision is reversible.

Should I bring the ship into harbor or not? - Reversible.
Should I flip the red switch cover and flip the switch? - not reversible.

Every decision I make first starts with this question.

If your asking for an opinion shields or no shields, I prefer no shields but the car look s great either way.

    Eagle eyes, Mike.
Those are Lexan "shields" (on topic I guess) for the fogs lights.
A very nice local owner had made these for his Testarossa. They fit my car to a "T" (pun intended).
I use 3M "Dual Lock"; AKA Mate-Lok, to hold them in place, also easily removable. Sort of Velcro on steroids, all plastic, no fabric to hold water if they get wet.
The fogs are way too expensive and hard to get if they get broken. These shields should help minimize to chance of breakage.

And...if you spot it, I have a "Plate-Clip" license plate mount. That is one of the coolest accessories I have. Quickly remove the plate for shows.

Thanks David, its definitely a piece I can make in my garage. Now they have great lens protection film for headlights/foglights that protect it from rocks without the car looking altered. Still very cool accessory to preserve your car.
