http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/24/this-is-the-new-2013-ferrari-f620-gt-plus-specs/ Specs are off the charts - look at that monstrous torque output! "...6.3-liter V12 will produce 740 horsepower and 690 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful twelve-cylinder engine ever made by Ferrari. With a redline of 8,700 rpm, this powerplant will move the Italian grand tourer to 60 miles per hour in 3.1 seconds and 100 mph in 8.3 seconds. It's also lighter, lower and shorter than the 599 it's replacing." WOW! 5 days until the official debut by Ferrari.
Wow! This will be a monster! Could be the last naturally aspirated V12 for this series. Can't wait to hear it!!! Rb
How do you get 690 lb-ft out of a N/A 6.3 liter engine? That's unheard of. Maybe they meant 590 which is still incredible.
The rendering on Autoblog is not the car. In addition who ever MADE UP the facts for the car is a little out of touch. The 599GTB does 0-100mph in 7.0 seconds. So a car with 130 more horsepower is more than a second SLOWER to 100mph? I think not.
The 8.3 (or 8.5) second number actually is for 200 km/hr, which is 124.3 mph. I always remembered the R&T test of the Daytona, which took some 18 seconds for 120 mph. My 575M takes 12.75 seconds and a 599 takes 11 seconds to reach 200 km/hr. The 620 is faster to 124 mph than my 575M is to 100 mph and about the same as the 0-100 mph time for a Z06. Seriously quick.
Terry, The article clearly states 100mph. If it will do 0-124mph in 8.3 seconds that makes it 1.2 seconds faster than an Enzo, which makes sense. This article however, does not.
Michael- On the other site we had a couple of folks like Davide who saw the car, and 8.5 seconds to 200 km/hr was one of the numbers they brought back. Just like the misquote on torque confusing Nm with lb-ft, non-technical writers will screw things up occasionaly. Otherwise my 575M would have 588 lb-ft of torque, and I would have an even harder time keeping rear tires on her.
I think they are taking the "line image" too literally. The 458 is the best of the looks and you can see the FF and 620 copying some of the aspects. To me, this is a mistake. The cars should look different because they have different purposes. It's like someone at Mercedes has infiltrated Ferrari's marketing department -- and not in a good way. This is probably a pretty good looking car in the flesh. But, it already looks dated because it has too much carry over from the California, the 458, and the FF. These cars are exotics. They are starting to stop looking that way because they are all looking too alike.
i love it and to those who don't, to each their own. but thankfully Ferrari is not in the business of pleasing everyone. some want it to be retro, some more macho, some want it to be individual and some who like the lineage of the 458, Cali and FF. either way, i respect Ferrari of doing it their way and making a product that is second to none. lets face it, more power than the Aventador but a much more usable, daily driver. i love Ferrari!
