    thanks for this :)

    From the ebay auction:

    Hi,

Here is a fantastic opportunity to own a genuine part of a 1960's Ferrari 275 GT.

I work in a garage that is restoring a Ferrari 275 GT, one of the most beautiful cars on the planet. Very few people can afford such a historic car, but here is a unique chance to own part of it!

This is genuine rust taken from the boot lid lip, as repaired by our in house expert.

Most Ferrari rust sales only include a few particles, we offer you loads, in various crusty sizes!!!

Ok, so this maybe a bit of a joke, but the rust really IS genuinely from a Ferrari 275 GT, and I will post it out to you if you win. We have agreed that any profit from this sale ( 100% profit ) will be used to buy beer. So please, we don't want to be sharing one can of Aldi larger, bid on this so we can at least enjoy a decent beer!

Looks like Morris Minor rust flakes to me. A '52 saloon if I'm not mistaken.

Damn, this looks like rust from a 275 GTB -- I'm looking for 275 GTS rust.

Deep thoughts: What do Fchatters think would be the winning bid if the tiny scoop of rust came with a valid 275 GTB serial number and clear title?

In typical Fchat style no one should buy this without a PPI first.

Everyone is missing the obvious question, is it from a mtching-number car?
    Where is Marcel?!

What the seller doesn't realize is that Ferrari rust is not "rare".

No opinions on this? My guess is $100k plus (for scoop of rust with title and 275GTB serial number)

One of my big regrets is letting loose of some GTO rust for cheap back in the 70s....

This rust is so valuable because it's Enzo era rust. He personally approved it for production.

Not only that, seeing as how Ferrari cars of that era started rusting almost instantaneously, it most likely originated right there in the Ferrari factory!

However, I would have to see the factory rust build sheet as confirmation before bidding on this!

As the thread title suggests, perhaps this too should be in "vintage market" so those merely entertained with such trends could follow this irrelevance also ?

wonder what the value of condensate drip from the exhaust of 250GTO would be worth...
the collection includes set of 4 vials each ( one from each of the exhaust tips ) per date collected with temperature and humidity recorded, with appropriate display case at additional cost

I have a set of spinner shaped cufflinks cast from leftover aluminum from one of the gtos. Came from some British firm. Pretty clever idea I thought tho more overhead than selling rust

At least you don't have to worry about when to change the timing belt with this.
