A few cars to identify from the Swedish Grand Prix of 1955-57! Plenty of Italian, German and English sportscars came to these races and teams invaded backyards all over the town of Kristianstad in the south of Sweden. All this before my time as I was born six years after the last car race. We are a group of people having done a few events to commemorate other milestone races held in Sweden. Now organizing the 60th of first event near the Råbelöv road circuit on July 18. In a haste we would like to welcome owners of cars that raced here the three years competitions were held here up to 1957. I hereby ask forum members to help identify any of the following Ferraris listed below, or whereabouts, in order to reach the owners for an invite. Or to get the message across to owners in other ways. For full entry lists and further info on our Tour & Concours event go to Start - Vram Grand Prix Auto Show Check out images attached to get in the mood; Car 22 of 750 Monza #0470 of Swede Gunnar Carlsson and 21 Monza of Paul Freré on Råbelöv trademark paddock canvas in order to avoid farm land mud in case of rain! Images are from a book called 'Skåneloppet-Sveriges Grand Prix´ by Rickard Bruzelius who experienced the races first hand and from day one started collecting photos and artefacts. For example, he still has a big yellow paint chip from the in 1955 crashed 750 Monza of Paul Freré! Most of it presented in a small museum at Råbelöv. Banners, posters, caps, trophies etc. The book covers mentioned car races allthough the bulk is from the motorcycle races held here between 1952-61. Only available in Swedish as far as I know. Björn
In 1957 on #3 were Hawthorn/Musso, on #4 Hill/Collins #6 Gregory/Seidel #11: Mairesse & Ringoir #12: de Vroom/Swaters #21: Harris/Liekens #28: Batista was entrant #34: 0692 Those were the driver changes also.
I'm late to the party, as usual... 1955: Trying to ID the Scuderia 6-cylinder cars is a nightmare. Was Stener's 0366AM really there in 1955? It is not listed in any of the results I've seen, neither have I seen any photos of it. Stener finished 8th in Production Sport & GT race with his 500 Mondial (0408/MD, #31). #28 = 0252/M (Björn Mårtensson) is also missing. Missing cars for 1957: #15 = Erik Carlsson/Olof Persson, 750 Monza 0470/MD (DNS) #26 = Lars Finnilä/Seppo Rikkilä, 500TR 0610/MDTR (Scuderia Askolin) #33 = Björn & Bengt Mårtensson, 500 Mondial 0408/MD #40 = Curt Lincoln, 250GT 0723/GT (Scuderia Askolin) Persson wrapped the Monza around a tree during practise, reputedly getting most bruises when two separate girlfriends came to visit him in the hospital. Curt Lincoln won a 100km GT-race arranged within saturday practise. Mercedes appears to have brought a flock of 300SL for potential customers, their effort going a bit flat when Askolin appeared in a 280hp prototype weighing less than 1000kg. Nice seeing you in Paris BTW, Björn!

Thanks Kare. That's very unique indeed. Sorry, I generally skip long posts, great pictures, however. john
Aardy, thanks for swift response! I am a bit confused reading barchetta.cc history file on this one. 750 Monza Scaglietti Spyder 0518M Here is a rebody mentioned inbetween accidents in Bari GP and Chimay GP (both in May) and a more oval grille afterwards. (which I cannot see at paddock image in my first post) Further it reads next outing is in September 17th at Dundrod. Swedish GP was August 7th and below is how the #21 Freré car looked after Friday practice the caption says... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, his name should be spelled Eric Carlsson and he is/was the brother of more known Gunnar `Persbergaren` Carlsson (middle nickname refers to his home village, a common practice in Sweden in those days when one had a name to confuse with somebody elses). Not to be confused with Saab rally ace, widower of Pat Moss, brother in law of Sir Stirling Moss Erik Karlsson!
Bjorn, The 750 Monza of Paul Frere has been rebuilt after the 1955 Swedish GP and was fitted with a 500TR type of body by Scaglietti for the 1956 season. By the way, Paul Frere referred at the 750 Monza as the car that tried to kill him. He did not like that car at all...
Nice meeting you too Kare! Great show. In order to trim down the initial post I left out cars that I had already mentioned in previous years. And the ones I believe I know how to reach its present owners of for an invite (hint, hint)! Story about Olle Persson in hospice is legendary. But I am now unsure wether it was ´Ludvika/Mas`-Olle Persson or ´Grus`-Olle Persson? Also wonder which one of them co-drove a 500 TR with Robert Tappan in 1956? I shall check with Bruzelius about # 0366 in ´55. Björn
