Hi Mondial folks here some photos of work recently done that might help one or the other to mend some small ills on their cars too.
One of the the centre vent's directional wheels got stuck mechanically all of a sudden. The unit comes out of the dash by pulling the right vertical edge towards you; the left edge has a ridge holding it in so cannot come out by pulling. Removing the front face showed that one of the lower flexible mounting flaps has lost its flexibility and blocked the directional wheels end stop. I removed the lame flaps, put it all back together and all works well.
The ashtrays had suffered some really bad repaint jobs during their lives. I applied paint stripper, repainted them cleanly and before rebuilding.
The shift gate and below area was full of .... I removed the gate, cleaned up the screws and the shifter casting - does anyone know if the inside was painted black or left alumium? I think I saw some remains of black paint but couldn't be sure. The shift gate cleaned up nice too, and a file helped remove some grains around the reverse stop that were scratching the shift stick.
The shift know had lost some of its white paint. I repainted it with Tamiya white enamel for scale models and cleaned up the nut too. Interestingly, the engraved letters are in perspective so that the driver can read them almost undistorted despite them being on a spherical surface. Nice touch. Shows how much heart went into the design of our cars.
The A/C button unit has a foam seal between it and the console mounting plate which had all but disappeared over time, leaving the buttons to rattle freely in their holes. I drew a template and cut out a new foam piece which I fixed with double sided tape. No more rattles. I also saw that the buttons are illuminated green when up (inactive) and white when down (active). Another nice touch. Also repainted the A/C temp and vent symbols in the process.
All those little things make a noticeable difference inside the car.

My car's original interior leather color was rosso VM 3171 (Conolly) and the headliner tissue rosso 7405 (wool by Zegna). The headliner had survived, but the leather ended up black... I decided to return it to its original splendour using ColorPlus products. They are water based (odourless) and can be applied by brush, two considerations important in my particular case.
As a pleasant side effect, I got to know the wonderful lady behind the range of products, named Joanne Rice. She had successfully and very kindly guided me through the whole process, starting with a perfect match to the sample supplied.

I started with the easy parts - steering wheel, sun visors, handbrake cover, to gain some experience. It was all done while using the car, except for the driver seat/centre console, which I did last during the rainy season while the car was hidden away anyway. Of course, certain repairs were done at the same time, and lots of cleaning "behind" and "underneath". But see for yourselves:
