"best" = physical driving experience (handling, power, feel, etc...) from there its up to your interpretation. "best" does NOT = price tag, looks, name, country of origin, company history, build quality, etc... no X factor
So far.... my dad's 1998 Porsche 911 (993) Carrera2 Convertible. Varioram is very exciting! All the best, Andrew.
Well i'd have to say the FF2000 I drove at racing school. Quicker than just about anything on the street with handling to boot. On the drag strip, I once drive a mid-10 sec. 1/4 mile Camaro - that was a hoot. Street car? Probably 430 Scuderia - simply the best road car I've had the pleasure of driving. Some guys on this board own Champ Cars and/or Trans-Am cars - far above what I've experienced.
electric motors are fantastic... its the electricity that it takes to run them that is the problem having said that... Lotus exige S or a viper GTS... that and the e36 M3
I haven't driven it yet... I want the unboosted raw steering feel and nimbe handling of a Lotus Europa, the effortless torque and power of a small block chevy, the massive grip of a big set of Hoosier DoT sticky tires, a comfortable quiet cockpit and a compliant ride on the street, the light shift effort of a Miata. All in a package not much bigger than the Europa... Unfortunately nobody makes anything close to that right now that I know of.
I would have to say that the Mercedes SLR McLaren was the best performance car I have driven. I loved the sound of the supercharger whining, and the deep but not overbearing exhaust. It is weird hearing the exhaust come out in front of the cabin. The acceleration is absolutely insane, unlike anything I have ever experienced. I am not a fan of automatic transmissions (excluding F1 style), but this one was the best I have experienced. It let the engine rev really high, and knew when to shift. It was so good I barely used the buttons on the back of the steering wheel. The handling was great for its size, and if you push it a bit you can get the back to break loose. Congratulations on still being alive. I haven't driven anything too exciting yet (still only 23), but I've ridden in a 580 rwhp cammed ZO6 that sounded and felt like God was throwing lightning bolts right into my body, and also a low 11 second built Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 that was a daily driver. Both were equally awesome.
#1: 1992 ZR1 (lent to me by a friend for a week back in 1993) AMAZING car that! #2: 1986 Ferrari 328 GTS which I now own Jedi
Now why would I do something as stupid/ricer as that? Highly modified meant it was a $12K engine with forged internals with a T66 turbo, 500+hp at low boost. Question answered???
Sounds nice - yep, question answered. Actually, I've got a bit of a soft spot for the MR2 and the Fiero when people keep the stock aesthetics - it's just that so many of them seem get 'Ferrari' bodykits plastered all over them. All the best, Andrew.
My Dinan M Roadster. Around 340 horsies with loads of torque in a small package that weighs less than 3000 lbs. The thing was a monster and incredibly fun to drive.
