I think there is always a market for quality in all its forms. Of course people need to be able to find that quality, so it definitely helps if a model is either iconic, sexy or well-known, preferably all of that. If a brand or model still exists today that really helps too. It explains why Mustangs or VW vans are worth more than their rivals of the time despite production numbers, speed, comfort etc. Why classic BMWs and Mercedes cars are generally worth more than Borgwards etc.

most didn't meet reserve, I thought the '86 328 was high, one of the TR's went for pretty good $140k, $330k good for 330, and the '88 328 low $60k. overall the no sales indicate what most of us have been saying.

all the 308/328/348/355 cars sold with pretty good results. None of the BB's met reserve nor the 2 new cars.

except for the 330 with a good number you could classify this under cars that rose the most are correcting the most. those mid-range cars were late to game and never really rose like the others. I think the F12 is more related to typical new model being replaced shortly dynamics.

Just curious, why does changing the color matter, if you like the new color?

Unless the repaint is done *really right*, as in car completely disassembled, it always shows somewhere. It often isn't done right, so people shy away from repaints more than originals.
And: beauty is skin deep. It is a bit of a shame that if you have a paint chip in your blue paint, the original red shows.

Well shucks, now I need to change the arbitrary number of mmmm's. I get the whole, entire point that most people desire the cars they knew as children/ teens and I get that but you know my favourite cars were built in the 1930s and 1950s/1960s and I was born after both of those eras, but if I have the expendable wealth that is what I would buy. I believe new players in the market go for what they know and eventually expand their collection from there.
