I'm mid-major right now, and hoses looked a bit tired, so I ordered the Scuderia Rampante 355 Hose Kit for F355. I was simply not prepared for the quality of these hoses. They're works of art. I am totally blown away. Techs as well were impressed. I got Porterfield pads and Gothspeed heat shields too (which are eff-in sweet), and I guess it's kind of obvious but I'm just happy that we have Ricambi America and we can get all this stuff with one phone call. Aaron and Daniel are always on their game. I am not affiliated in any way. Just a happy camper.
The hose kit is great stuff, but please be sure to retighten all clamps after the car has been run up to temp.
My silicone hoses will be going on at my next major. Good to get feedback on any potential pitfalls and how to get the most out of them. Robb
2 of my hoses were too large internal diameter. Constant drips Plagued me .....ended up ripping them out. Total waste of a stupid amount of money. Never again. Ymmv...watchout for leaks
Thanks for the info...we're going to check this out this afternoon. If we find issues then I will probably have to return the hoses. Great community here.
My car is out from its major and has a short summer season of driving. Same leaks and concerns as others. The SRI hoses look nice, but not worth the price IMHO. Two are sized incorrectly and leak. I also had one kink. I suspect it is a seam in the silicone hose part that was simply wrapped and shipped. Picture is next to a Federal silicone hose that cost me $12. My next major will be with all new rubber hoses from Daniel at Ricambi. SRI stuff is overrated & overpriced...this coming from an owner of his hoses & questionable gold connectors. As always...YMMV. Yeh That's one of my SRI hoses that drips...the expansion tank end...hose is too big to seal...and it kinks. Which other SRI hose gave you a problem?.... The thermostat to rad crossover pipe? I'm well angered at SRI ....their prices are unjustifiable....total raping of a F owners pockets 1100 usd for a set of hoses that don't even fit 1500 usd for their gold connector kit all pieces of which are easily sourceable online for like 350 usd Sickening actually because Dave Helm's knowledge is fantastic and he seems like a really lovely man whenever I've dealt with him. We all got to turn a profit but come on.....be reasonable!
You watch out for bad fitment..internal diameter too large making for leaks. Hoses 15 and 28 in parts diagram.
No need to berate the man. Don't buy his goods if you think it is over priced. Full disclosure: I have never bought a thing from SRI.
No one is berating the man. Just sharing product experiences. Is what it is. Full Disclosure: I own a lot of his parts.
The man as I have said is a gent. It's the 2 hoses that suck. Btw...the rest of the hose set seems fine
All the silicone hoses can be tighten, and hoses removed and replaced with the engine in. I have had no leak problem with my set that i have had for years, just lucky i guess. Although i do know friends that have had leaks. I found the key to accessing the hose clips is to position them in a way that you know that in the future, if there is a reason to get to them you can. The most awkward hose clip combo is the clip on the "S" shaped hose towards the bulk head, but its possible with the right socket or miniature spanner. But be aware that if you over tighten it, it can deform the delicate pipe it sits on that runs under the car
I stand corrected. The trick is to position the clips so they can be got at with engine in. Prepare for back ache!!
Yea, and the trick to getting them on easy is to use washing up liquid. Once on it dries and the hose is tight. That delicate pipe I am talking about deforms if the hose is over tightend, this is also a cause for water leaks from the crease in the pipe it's self. Of course the new "S" shaped silicone hose will be the first to be blamed because the said pipe is very hard to inspect because it only sticks out about an inch from under the car. Removing the engine lid makes life so much easier for the "S" hose.
I have a set of SR Coolant Hoses for sale (stock photo attached). PM or email me if interested and I'll work with you on a great deal! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/555956-ferrari-355-scuderia-rampante-coolant-hose-kit.html#post145467090 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Folks.... Given the potential problems of these silicone hoses, I decided to go with OEM rubber hoses for my next major. Would anyone have a ready-made part number list for these hoses. When I Google hose kits, only silicone types show up, and I'm having problems identifying the hoses required from the parts manual. Thanks! Cheers Ian
Send Ricambi an e-mail or chat. I bet they have the list all made up already. And if you ask nice you might get the FChat discount too.
