The San Antonio Chapter of the Ferrari Club of America went for a drive through the Hill Country on Saturday. We took a long scenic route to Bergheim where we had lunch. One of the club members let me drive his 360 Spider F1 all the way back to San Antonio.
Good people, good food, and beautiful cars made it a fantastic day! :)

As usual John, fantastic pics. I really enjoyed the action shots on the twisties in the hill country--but somehow it just didn't quite capture the ferocity with which and F40 and Challenge Stradale provide when passing. Nor does it catch the boat anchor action of a few of the participants when they recognized John Law cruising towards them in the other lane. I'm shocked (mildly) however, that the reknowned Chop and loyal sidekick, Tonto Wrench (or is that "wench") would allow a white hair dryer to join in the parade fun. They must be getting soft in their old age :)!

Chop's girl delivered the hair dryer and then they stashed the 550. :) Paul, you short on garage space?

Not at all. I've driven a few different ferraris and the 360 F1 was by far the easiest to drive.

That looks like it was a fun day, wish I could have been out there.:( It looks like a few unusual cars came up this time. I've never seen a 360 with the factory sunroof option.
But great pics Mike, it's always good to see your posts. How did the 360 feel?

Any more details on it Mike?

The 360 Spider felt great!! At first it felt weird with the roll bars and the humps behind my head but I got use to it and the rear viability really wasn't very bad at all. The F1 transmission almost made it too easy to drive. :) I really like the concept of the F1 transmission but the shifts are pretty slow. When I was in the passenger seat the shifts didn't seem slow but I could feel the difference when I was actually driving it. I drove on a country highway and in bumper to bumper city traffic and the car handled well in both. The car I drove had the standard seats which I think feel more comfortable than the Daytona seats. I drove it in "sport" mode... handling felt great. It didn't have tons of power but plenty for my needs. :) One of the things that I really liked was seeing the curve of the fender through the windshield.
