    Hi there,

My 1988 (pre ABS) 328 does not have the clamp screw that holds the spare wheel in place. Could someone have a quick look and measure the exact thread size for this? I'm thinking of making a replacement.
    Thanks in advance guys!
    Jon

You sure you want to have all that work? They are not that expensive...

Jon, my 83 308 is 12mm x 1.75mm. Total length is 133mm and the bolt from tip to the knob is 95mm.

There are TWO Different length screws.

Make sure you have the correct dimensions for your car.

Glenn, thanks again for the information. Thanks to this, I successfull managed to find the perfectly sized screw (with plastic clamp top like the original) from a fastener supplier. Cost me about £5 so a little more cost effective than getting from usual channels.

Several suppliers have the right size; in the end I found one in the UK on ebay (specifically the ebay name is pkinklimit85) so went for that.
