(Not sure I understand this "QUOTE" function, but...) Hans, one of our car companies (General Motors?) was fined $$$ by our NannyState government for using "higher octane fuel than is available to public" gasoline in its EPA/Mileage run (static, on floor-mounted rollers). So in that case, these automotive engineers were either after lower emissions or better fuel mileage with the 100+ (I forget now what it was they had in the barrel, but it was NOT pump gas). Peter's light blue 5-speed is now sold - unfortunately before I got a chance to try it out - my search continues.

    Regards,

    Hans--

You answered your own observation. At 8.8:1, "anti-knock" most assuredly is NOT the reason. I can not believe Ferrari delivers a vehicle with specifications that assume owner "tweaking" the advance curve. What we need is a Fuels Chemist (yep, that is a discipline of chemistry). I still believe it is horsepower (remember, these were NOT US cars) and clean valves/combustion chamber. EHT

in the 4th pic down, side profile, the exhaust appears quite low to the ground and pipes somewhat
separated from the underside of the trunk. Is this the correct placement for exhaust & pipes ?

Oversized wheel arches so anti-Pinin like, so few manufacturers follow thru w/the details like PininFarina.

Hi all...Been reading all of your informative posts for some time and trying to educate myself with all the readings, maintenance and history. Wanting to possibly purchase a 308 in the near future.

Besides the info that the forza website provides, does anyone know more about this 1979 Anthracite 308? I do realize that it needs a major and a clutch and would definitely do Birdman's fusebox. Hope this is not taboo to say, but kinda like the "Patina" wear on her in the inside and out (excluding the rust of course). Is anyone aware of the history of this car? I haven't found any forum discussion on this particular car. Is the price right for $25k?

Welcome to F-chat. You may want to try the 308/328/mondial section. Give Peter a call. He's always been forthcoming with the info he's got on his cars.

Agree on Peter...he's straight-up and very easygoing.

In about an hour I'm going over to Norwood Perf. to pick up the '83 308GTS I bought from Peter/Forza in early December '07. It was a really nice original car when I bought it and it's since gotten the full treatment at Norwood. Pics coming!
