In terms of still photography, Nikon and Canon have gone back and forth one-upping each other and the D810 is the latest round. However, the camera is not quite a response to Canon when it comes to digital video in a DSLR. Canon seems to have won that battle. But then again, I am a Canon guy.
I've had mostly Canons, I love them. I purchased a Nikon for my wife, and while it's a sharp camera, I still prefer the Canons.
Canon is such a good brand that even a crapy photographer can make great pictures. Wow, what a great photographer you must be if you can make good pictures with a Nikon. ;-) (can't find a sarcasm smiley)
A few ones with a Nikon. So sorry for the poor quality ;-) not all are suitable for work, so just links http://www.piar-fotografie.nl/gfx/modellen5/carlam22fb.jpg http://www.piar-fotografie.nl/gfx/modellen6/davon1.jpg NSFW http://www.piar-fotografie.nl/gfx/modellen5/carlam30basis.jpg http://www.piar-fotografie.nl/gfx/modellen6/aliahferrari.jpg
I'm a commercial shooter and use canon, Leica, Nikon, and phase one/ leaf credo / cambo. All good at many things. Some better than others. If you are a good photographer, you can use anything to create great images. Right tool for the right job. The better question is more likely - which cameras do you enjoy using the most. Best all around camera that can handle ANYTHING - the new canon 1dx mk II. Just got mine and it is stellar, especially on video and 4K. But I will continue to use the other cameras depending on needs. I love them also. Robb
Sony apparently has some good stuff. For anyone attending the FCA Annual Meet there will be a bunch available to try out. Jeff
I didn't go full pro when I bought my first DSLR Nikon camera. I went with the Nikon D5100 camera. It's great and does the job for me. I bought this camera to take pics of the kids when they were born. I will eventually get a high end Nikon or Canon when I think I have gotten the most out this D5100 I have now. But I have a feeling that will be many years away yet.
