According to Autosport, there was a season high 17 cautions yesterday. They don't elaborate on how many laps or time this entailed. Suffice to say, the Mountain Dew sales at the snack counters must have been off the scale. BHW
Bubba's been a rough driver ever since I've known him, it was a bit of a surprise to see he won. The racist still have a platform to put blacks down as Bubba's dad is white as white can be. Its crazy in such a mixed country, to keep track of race accomplishments like we do in the media. The other irony is that the Japanese truck is made in the USA, and the 'Murican trucks aren't...
Wow, the spectators must have been in Mountain Dew heaven! I visited a friend who had the race on for a few minutes. What struck me was how the NASCAR cars' have so much lean in the turns and how their noses pin under braking. This must have been during one of the rare green flag sessions early on. BHW
F150 is built in Dearborn, MI or KC, MO; the Silverado is built in Flint, MI or Ft Wayne, IN. some Dodge Rams are built in Michigan, some in Mexico; but those trucks aren't actively in the Truck series anymore.
That certainly was a one lane snooze. I couldn't even watch it unfortunately. Harvick is such a little ***** it's amazing. It's too bad though because I like RCR and he was pretty good on that team. Why did Wilksboro get taken off the schedule?
too small a venue and one too many races in north Carolina. remember that when the rock and NW were taken off the schedule, nascar was chasing the big dollar and was looking to build 1.5 mile facilities in new markets. the rock and nw were not owned by the france family either....besides needing facility upgrades, the france family would not capture the full financial that a 1.5 mile facility that they owned would provide. my opinion...bring back the rock and NW...real drivers tracks and tracks that would actually fill the seats with the core fan!!!
that's correct, at the time NASCAR wanted to chase the big dollars in Chicago, Dallas, KC, LA, PHX, and so forth.... NW was bought by Bob Bahre and Bruton Smith, so they could move dates to NH and Texas respectively. Rockingham was bought by Penske, who flipped it to ISC, who then moved one of its dates to Fontana, which they no longer have I agree, NASCAR belongs on tracks like NW and The Rock. I'd love to see Cup races back there.
as evidence: here's some action from NW and Rockingham. tell me that Chicago and Vegas put on better races. chas...great find! that is some good stuff!!! sad but a bunch of those folks are no longer with us...including bennie.
Those videos are awesome! Thanks for posting. The thing about that is I think the cars had just as much to do with it as the tracks. Early in the first vid Earnhardt makes contact with Spencer and its all set they collect and move on. Today it would be a wreck and a news story and all hell would break loose.
I agree. tires too...the NW video was before the switch to radial tires. bias ply FTW! if NASCAR really wants to put on a show, more short tracks, take off the back wing, mandatory 6 inches static front splitter height, bias ply tires.
another snooze fest... between clocks falling back, the F1 race and the race at Texas I've caught up on some sleep
I was at the Texas race. Jimmy's car was so fast, it dang near lapped itself. Good for him, BORING in the stands...
Another race, another non-watch by me... France and Co. might revoke my NASCAR-fandom! Oh well, sounds like 5-time is gonna be 6-pack...makes for a good storyline next year..ie the chase to join Petty & Sr.
the championship is done...in honesty many of us here knew it was done 30 days ago or more. the rookie of the year is possibly done too. danica Patrick...count on it!!! how will that play out w/ her bf who has out driven her by any metric? how will the fans react if that is the outcome? I think the fix has gotten too transparent and it will further effect ticket sales in the future. let's see how this plays out?
I foresee the ratings bump employed by all once great shows struggling for new ideas...the wedding episode. Followed by Dale Jr. jumping over a shark tank at the All Star race.
