Good Indy race. Seems the coverage came on with about a day to spare. Sort of weird to be watching racing and get all the football, UFC, MMA, etc news and commercials. Big reason I liked Speed was to not see stick and ball stuff. I don't care for the FS1 commercials that are trying to be funny. ESPN does it better.

And Randy Mamola commentating? Good to see one of the legends poking his head up. I guess I am sentimental, but where are the parade laps with Schwantz, Rainey, Spencer, Roberts, Lawson, Kocinski, etc? There was something a few years ago with Lawson, Rainey and Roberts for the Yamaha Anniversary at Indy.

Stands looked kind of empty, but the race was good, especially the last few laps. Wonder what the Ducati debrief will be like?

On a side note - "The Unrideables" is a good video recently broadcast in the UK, but floating around the internet.

His two main title contenders aren't exactly top fit right now, but to Marquez' credit he makes very little rookie mistakes. It's like he's been in MotoGP for years. He also had some luck with the crashes he did have. But he's the real deal, no doubt about that!

Just finished the DVR of Moto 2 from Indy. Since the Moto 3, 2, and GP were live, there was a bit of scheduling mis-alignment. The last 15 minutes of the Moto 2 show has the Moto GP season review so far and an interview with Marquez. Good stuff, but not in the actual Moto GP air time.

MM appears to just be getting stronger. Pedrosa and Lorenzo are nearing full fitness, but at the moment they don't seem to have the answer for him.

I am incredibly impressed by Marques. This kid has the makings to be a multiple World Champ. The question mark is Lorenzo. He seemed to fade over the course of the race, and I am not quite sure it has anything to do with the bike. I suspect he is still reeling from his recent surgery. I don't think a healthy Lorenzo would have given up the lead last race.

Sure was! At the beginning of this thread, I remember someone saying how MotoGP is boring and predictable.
Think they must have meant MotoGP in a parallel universe!

Between Silverstone and the Indy race in Baltimore, a very good weekend of racing.

Hopefully everyone is healthy for the next race in Italy.

And Rossi making his way to 4th over the last 2 laps - very nice as well.

Rossi always seems to do well near the end. I was watching the Indy race, and I think it was Castronueves they were talking about being super aggressive near the end, too. They told him to start in that mode and not be conservative up front.

Pedrosa seemed to do well, faded, came back, then faded again.

I thought it was Red Bull gives you wings, not sea gulls...

I like the announcer - "It's obviously horrendous news for the sea gull..."

great race today. makes me regret missing most of them this year. when did motogp start doing pit stops? was this just a one off because of the tire degradation issues i heard of?

That was a very entertaining race. I was almost cheering for the rain in the last few laps to make it a completely bizarre day.

I usually am against forced rules like lap limits on tires or mandatory pit stops. They should have made the race normal, pit if and when you need to, and have fun. Here is a problem to solve for the teams, instead of here is a problem and a solution.

Some great techniques on bike swapping - Marquez almost did a gymnastics routing between the bikes.

It's a liability issue. Bridgestone didn't want to run the risk of a rider getting injured or worse because of a failing tire.

They should have tested there and come up with a decent tire beforehand.

I agree. Solve the problem, but don't alter the race and add new conditions. Getting like F1 and IRL with tire rules steering the train.

Remember the days when the 500s ran Mich or Dunlop, mixed front and rears (hard/medium/soft), maybe one team mate on Mich, one on Dunlop? I think there was even a race or two in the early 90s with the same bike having a Mich rear and Dunlop front on in a race. Too much $$ these days to do that.
