most of the threads on here discuss 2 door sportscars, so i wanted to start one about 4 door sedans. my own opinion is that the karma is one of the best production car designs. it has its faults of course, but so do all designs. so propose your vote for the best design of a production 4 door (ie, not just a one-off special). and we are not discussing the performance aspects either, just design. here is mine
It only ever existed in Photoshop, but wouldn't this have been lovely? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I personally prefer the look of the original front end. V2 has a much larger grille opening that looks out of proportion for my tastes. But the body on both is so sensuous. The back seat however was like sitting in the penalty box.
i agree on the v2 grille - gaping mouth that looks incongruous. the interior dimensions of the rapide are similar to the karma. i think that if you try to make a downward flowing profile, as opposed to a shooting brake rear, that this inevitable.
Always liked the Ferrari 4 door, although the nose was kind of boring. That was in the era that no covered headlamps were allowed in the USA. It also never made it to production. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I couldn’t get my foot through the door opening and the seat cushion The lack of headroom didn’t bother me. That’s what you would expect.
I'm not that into sedans, so I don't have an all time favorite, but this is my current favorite. No bad angles. If I had a three car garage, I'd get one, but the DD has to be outside, so I'm getting an F-150 Raptor. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Fiat 130 Opera exist but only as a one-off. Fiat rejected Pininfarina's proposal - likewise with the 130 Maremma. They would have looked good in any classic car garage.
Nice, but boring compared to the Alfa. Typical when comparing Italian and English automobile designs. The grill makes the nose look bulbous, and the headlights make the car look crosseyed. But the profile is pretty.
I have to say I think Alfa really made the nose look angry insect ugly, and I am an Alfa cheerleader. It looks like an 8C nose someone ran into a wall at 30mph. Otherwise the car look good, very BMW like. FIAT should maybe use their Mazda connections and have them do a nose job on it since the Italians have been really off as of late. Speaking of Mazda, if the put that 4 door concept they showed this year in production that might be my favorite 4 door. And I don't even like Mazda's!!!
Welp, I couldn't disagree more! There is absolutely nothing I dislike about the Giulia, design wise. It's difficult for me to wrap my head around an Alfa fan not liking the nose. I like it much better than the 8C. Such is life.
We all have opinions and that's what makes life interesting. I like sleek aero, not house brick Kamm front ends with huge grills on cars.
Well, you'll have been on f-chat ten years this Friday - my birthday, no less - so I'll give you a pass for not understanding the Giulia.

Never heard that before... Kamm promoted sleek front ends and sides with an abrupt rear... Kammback. Not brick front ends, I think.
