    Do any of you have any experience in how to keep the air con working at highways speeds. I gather from a friend that it freezes(? ) and that 's why it stops blowing cold air.

    Is this right? How can it be modified so that it stays cold?

    Mine stays cold at any speed. I had it gone through this spring and the expansion value replaced.

    The fluid in the system is freezing just after the expansion valve due to moisture in the system. Your AC dryer needs to be replaced, which means the system has to be emptied of refrigerant, opened to replace the dryer, then vacuum pumped to remove the air, then refilled with refrigerant. I just had mine worked on for the same reason.
