Yeah... I think what he meant was it’s a beast you could never tame... Imagine what the F12 TDF is like FFS...
Can't remember who said it but obviously a racer ...... "you know you have enough power when the wheels are still spinning from one turn to the next" ... or something along those lines
Mark Donohue - "If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horsepower."
Having more power than grip, all the time, is entertaining for the first 15 minutes, then becomes a serious challenge and requires lots of practice and concentration to manage. Learning to use downforce and tyre + suspension settings is part of the practice, during which you will spin the car many times. Expensive if you hit the wall on a track, but at least there are no trees and nothing coming the other way to kill you. In a road car with no significant aero and treaded tyres, you are in the hands of intrusive electronic nannies. There's a reason a Nissan GTR has 4WD, it would be unmanageable without it, yet it's over a hundred hp short of an F12. (I bet the GTR is faster than any Ferrari in the real world) Not once in 5 years did I have the 575 flat in anything below 5th gear, I can't imagine how you'd ever use more than 2/3rds of a F12 or 812 on public roads and you'd certainly never want to turn all the nannies off. Having said all that, an F12 is a fabulous car and looks stunning in black.
Speaking of f12s, I was seriously considering buying the one Dixons had for low $300k a year ago but thought I'd wait until the prices drop further. What a numbskull!
think of all the fun you'd have hot-rodding one. Changing the LED's to globes and converting from injection to carbies
We just have to be patient. We're old enough to have seen this all before. I really want one. That or a vw beetle.
Yeah i went through that with 458s... being too picky and wanting too good a deal... now look at them. Missed the boat. I wasnt waiting any longer... attack. Sent from my SM-G998B using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I'd still love to own a 458 in the future but they're just crazy prices right now. I suppose any car is really valued by the lease payment though and interest rates are going to be cheap for a while yet... Sent from my SM-G998B using FerrariChat.com mobile app
That is absolutely stunning!! Love the black on tan. I'd have an F12 over a 458/88, and yes I'm under 65
