    Diesel's run on knock essentially, so there's no need to avoid it. Turn to the boost up as high as you want, throw on the largest turbo you can find, give it gobs and gobs of fuel, and go to town.

    My shooting buddy used to have a Dodge Pickup with a 5.9 Cummins. He had a larger turbo, some slight fuel system mods, and ran 60 pounds of boost. A lot of these trucks have a large turbo that feeds a larger turbo ... for somewhere in the vicinity of 90-100 pounds of boost, and they'll run all day like that.

    Amazing engines they are.
