I swapped the clutch out in mine for under $1500 with labor. It was more the "unknown" factor that put me off from pursuing it. Also, the wife said no more and I'm tired of sleeping on the couch.
Wasn't it s/n 9033? For what it's worth, the current FML asking price index on the 330 2+2 (both versions) is $63,788.
Marcel: Can you comment on the lower mileage Testarossa's price? Is that typical for Europe or is the market going soft on those cars? Thanks, Erik
How is the market sales for this years? it s seems that mostly cars are saled under the price estimated, what does it means? Only some vintage or classic cars have made the right deal. why somes cars have been not sale? someone are beauty 288 GTO, F40 (221-207) 550 barchetta, 400 I. There s no sufficent buyers? or this cars have no the same interest like before i mean there s 10 years each of one was sales. Do you think that the situation about noise and pollution normes, petrol prices, taxes...makes troubles for Ferrari prices/sales in the futur? the market will be different in next years?
There are about eight thousand Testarossas!! It's all a matter of quantity. What do you expect? Get real. The car sold at Gstaad goes to Romania (!!). Marcel Massini
There were two 288 GTOs and F40s in the same auction. That doesn't work. Also, there are way too many F40s anyway (1'311 units built, it's like a Daytona). Again: It's a matter of quantity. The auction was a huge success, considering how difficult it is today to find good cars for auctions, cars that haven't been on the market before already. 81 percent of the cars sold, that's VERY good. Only five cars were not sold. Many of the cars sold were way above the estimate. Noise, pollution, petrol prices, taxes: This won't have any influence, I am sure. If you cannot afford a Ferrari, stay away from the market. Marcel Massini
Check the description on the Bonhams website. Or in the catalog. Just a TR, not more and not less. Marcel Massini
My thoughts on and pictures (70 at 1024x768) of the auction have just been published here: http://www.***************.com/frame.php?file=event_item.php&rid=92
Does FML categorize car condition or is that overall average? Both 330 2+2's sold, but on the lower end, which could have a lot to do with condition...50 grand for a dog isn't bad. There's demand out there. I'm curious to know if these cars are going to end users. Does anyone have a good guess as to whether rebodying is still being done regularly?
The 275 GTB is not blue. It is gunmetal grey. Check the list I posted and you will learn that it was withdrawn from the sale. Marcel Massini
Yes, thanks also for your article....... A great impression of the events. I would have liked for Mrs. Pironi to have made more from the sale, as well......... Happy Holidays! Looks like a good snow ski year, then???
Mr. Massini, I was also at the auction, and heard Simon Kidston mentioning that the (American)owner of #0533GT was willing to cooperate to make things right for both cars i.e. both cars would receive their correct chassis#'s. Also, apparently the original engine (0695GT) is still around (in a replica of some sort?). Can you please keep us updated on what will happen to the car in the near future? Thanks, Mick
Yes things are looking good for my skiing holiday planned in France the weekend after I get back from covering the Cavallino Classic.
Go, man, go! My new gf HATES the cold....my downhill days are done, it seems....... 3 pair, in the closet! Too sad!
I bought 0695 GT at the Bonhams auction in Gstaad, on behalf of an American. I can confirm that both cars, 0533 GT and 0695 GT, will be put back to original configuration and numbers. However, the original engine 0695 GT is no longer around. 0695 GT currently has engine 0951 GT, out of a 250 GT PF Coupé. 0695 GT is now in my warehouse here in Berne and will soon be shipped to Holland and then on to USA. 0533 GT is already in USA (Illinois). I also acquired the 400 Superamerica #5029 SA. Marcel Massini
From what I heard, anecedotaly, from associates that attended the 400 SuperAmerica was the best car auctioned. Congratulations. Darren.
This 400 SA had been totally restored by Zanasi in Maranello and by Modena Cars SA in Switzerland plus Ferrari Switzerland in Nyon as well. I got all the restoration bills, total amount of more than US$ 200 K. Marcel Massini
