There are devices that measure the thickness of the existing paint from the body metal to the top surface. I assume that you are repainting and have the body in primer. Also wouldn't it be the same on all paint colors? I found several which measures .001" to .080". I would think that the lower end of the spectrum (.001") would be a paint job that was buffed out almost to the primer coat below the color coat. And the upper limit (.080") would be multiple paint jobs one upon the other. Anything in the upper limits of the tool would be body filler indicating the vehicle was damaged and body filler was used to bring the metal surface equal to the proper profile. Hi Keith, i have a professional paint thickness gauge! But grigio abu dhabi is perhaps a multilayer paint and i don't have another reference beside my car. So it would be helpfull to get some grigio anu dhabi paint thickness data. Greetings Christian

If i remember correct, i read 250-500 and the most areas with 350-500 shown repaints and we recognize an accident damage and i sell it back to the dealer... Thanks a lot for your input! Hope your car is damage free! all best Christian
