Hey guys what's happening with our National part of ferrari history ?
It's a long story but I will give you all the newest information as soon as possible. For now: 30 september will be the last day for Garage Francorchamps / no more contract with the Inchcape holding. From that moment on Peeters Waterloo will be the new supplier for the Brussels area. Today they are distributor for BMW, Opel, Saab and importer of Rolls Royce. In between of the Opel and BMW dealership in Waterloo is now a store for BMW-motorbikes. They are transforming this bike-store for displaying Ferrari and Maserati. They will start officially the 1st of october but because the building want be ready by friday they will keep in the G.F. building till the end of the year. More info on the new plans of G.F. later!!! Cordiali saluti, Joren REMANS
i just received a letter from ferrari west europe...they 'll keep the name "Grarage Francorchamps" But the adress of the garage will change in january...
Since yesterday the Garage Francorchamps sign above the main entrance door is gone..... From now on it's definately finito..... Dealer network in Belgium : - Francorchamps Motors Brussels in Waterloo (Operating till 31/12/04 in Zaventem in the "old" premises) - Francorchamps Motors Antwerp in Wijnegem - Autobedrijf Monza in Ghent
So, got some 'official' news : no more Ferrari importer in Belgium, but directly Ferraris from Italy to the official dealers.... So you choose your official dealer, and the car comes from the factory..... Also, no more Maserati dealers, but every Ferrari dealer is also a Maserati-dealer......????.......... Got also some news from Mr. Swaters, who asked in a "POLL" if i was interested in participating on a 'museum' project,(Brussels area) which i answered with a big YES of course....'TO BE CONTINUED'.......... Something strange that 'garage Francorchamps' dissappeares'.....
My last car a 360 Spyder was purchased there while I was there as a soldier with the AF. It is sad to see this famous place go. I would love the classic picture of the GPrix and the half car on the wall. Where will all this stuff go? Will the staff just move or since they are Incscape employees be let go? From the US, regards, Philip
It's a sad day and GF will be missed. I still remember FF40 vividly in 1992. What will become of the gallery and the database? What will Mr. Swaters do?
Monsieur Swaters will never retire. Never. He is one of the guys from "the old school" and I am sure he's working on some new plans already, we haven't seen everything yet!
not true, i already posted they are looking to place a museum ! He will never retire, Ferrari is his life, night and day, I've seen him working, I spend some sundays with him, crazy..................I love this 'Monsieur'. greetings, vincent
I always wanted to visit Jacques Swaters' FF Galleria, but I never could. I would be great if he starts a museum, so public can see all his old Ferrari stuff.
My brother went and took plenty pictures of Mr.Swaters collection. You're right, this must be "open" to the public. Himself is a very important part of Ferrari and not only in Belgium.!!! Keep us posted on a futur museum. LOL Roland F40LM
Similar thing has happened in the UK with Ferrari UK, Inchcape owned Ferrari UK but now Ferrari Italy have taken on all the importing etc. I believe Inchcape still own Maranello Sales and the Classicparts business
Hello Ton, Here you go: Francorchamps Motors Brussels Chaussée de Bruxelles, 52 1410 Waterloo. It's just next to the BMW dealership, Waterloo Motors. Remember that they are not operative over there yet because the building isn't completely finished. The new management still uses the Garage Francorchamps premises till beginning 2005.
Hi guys, From what I heard, Pozzi, France will become the central importer for west Europe. F-cars are centralized around the Lyon area and shipped to various dealers in Europe. Not sure if Ferrari Germany is included or not at this time. Further, the building used by G-Francorchamp is rented from Mr Swatters at an amazing 25,000 Euro / monthly. This may explain that. On top of that, each Ferrari dealer are now asked to take Maseratis in their showroom. Imagine the type of money they will have to come up with or pay the interest on the amount till the car is sold. Of course, this "bank loan" is made by Ferrari which few people know about. Ltr. DG
