As many people already know, Enzo drove primarily three Ferraris, a 250GTE, 330GT (four headlamp) and a 365GT4 2+2.

Years ago the owner of Blackhorse Motors in Los Angeles had, then sold, a dark red 365GT4 2+2. He subsequently re-purchased the car intending to do a full restoration. In stripping the car it was discovered the original paint was originally a silver blue. Most likely Azzurro Hyperion. The car's original interior was also blue.

Many years ago I'd visited the shop, Tony's Auto, which is directly across from the main entrance to the Ferrari factory. I was given a tour of the shop and shown the very cool Ferraris they had there, including an alloy 250SWB spider with a gas filler in the middle of its trunk.

One of the cars there was a pretty metallic blue and I remarked how that was possibly my favorite color for a Ferrari. The person giving me the tour, I believe it was Tony himself if memory serves me correctly, stated Enzo had a car in that same color....the color like this 365GT4 2+2.

This car appears to be one of the three prototypes. The engine block is stamped "003" which would indicate it's number 3 in the production run for the 365GT4. 365GT4 2+2 with serial number 16291 is known as the second prototype. This car, the one that appears to be Enzo's car, is serial number 16293. That would make this the third prototype (there were three 365GT4 2+2 prototypes) and would correspond with the engine stamping.

Moreover, this car features the same silver blue exterior over a blue leather interior as the 365GT4 2+2 used in the factory brochure for the 365GT4 2+2.

Of course, Enzo would be more likely to drive a prototype as opposed to pulling a "new" car from the line, something he'd rather sell for the money.

So, absent proof to the contrary, not just hearsay but actual proof, the evidence thus far indicates Enzo's Ferrari is now being restored.

    You seem to be right.
#15897 is the first. Originally dark blue.
Last time seen with Swiss, more than a decade ago, in Red color and Borrani wheels.
#16291 is the second. Gold Metal. Don't know what it became.
#16293 is the third. Azzuro/Blue Leather. Living in California, waiting for full restoration which seems to have begun, watching your pictures...

About the fact it was Enzo's car, without any proof it would be hard to say.
Only one picture of Enzo in a 365 GT4 2+2 can't be enough.

Send a PM to Marcel Massini. He could verify if that's the car... If you really want to know.

Either way, looks like a great project, and it will be a great car!

Neat car, but you need to contact Marcel, and have some documentation.

Keep us posted on the restoration!

I did actually. I'll leave it at this: Marcel responded with an inaccuracy which served to show even Marcel is human ;)

The reality is absent direct verification anything someone else says would be little more than hearsay. Which logically leads to the next question: Finding a person who knew Enzo well enough to know which car he drove. That is, an eyewitness to verify authenticity.

I know the owner/restorer is compiling a full history for the car so we should learn more in due time.

Next time I'm at the shop I'll get some more photos and post them.

I would consider contacting my local Ferrari dealer and inquire about performing a
Classiche certification on this vehicle. If indeed this is a vehicle that was used on a
regular basis by Mr. Ferrari this process might provide you with some answers.
If you chose not to do a Classiche at this time . I would inquire with my dealer as
to the location of pertinent chassis and body numbers located on the car as to
not over restore the car and destroy some of these IDs.

I own #17109, One of the very first production cars. It is silver with black interior but it may of had a dark red interior when new. Now has 55000 miles and is in Las Vegas.

Maybe because of the file size
Look at the Attachment Key chart in the Manage Attachments window to see what the respective limits of the file extension you are attempting to upload.

Not pulling your leg here; isn't the upper pin bushing missing the 2nd rubber seal?
