Anyone have one or know of one available?

This is not going to help you, but in the past month I've seen a lady driving a 540i wagon around town- never seen it before so either she moved into the area or they just got the car. There was a converted M5 wagon on BAT!! Wagon E39s are rare and cool cars- best of luck finding one- I'll keep my eyes peeled!

i know this is not what you asked for..but if you are interested? i know of a friend with a later 5-series wagon ('06-'08) that has about 150k miles. He says one of the turbos needs a repair. he hasnt owned it long and wanted to modify it to an M5 Touring clone, but I think he is abandoning the plan. PM me if you are interested and ill put you in touch.

Not the same thing - my sister had a rare BMW SUV with a manual transmission.

Looks nice! Change any fluids not done recently, check/change any suspect suspension bushings, put new water pump in if over ~70K miles old, check tires, brakes and drive her for another 200K, 300K miles!

    Congrats!

I had a 2000 528i Touring wagon with the 5 speed manual when I lived in Chicago. It got me through 4 years of residency and Chicago winters without any major problems. As was stated before: go through the cooling system, front control arms, and rear suspension.

I had Bilstein coilovers and added the M5 front bumper. So versatile and relatively easy to work on.

I sold it to a neighbor who gave it to his 16 year old... it was totalled 3 months later :(

    Enjoy it!
