Extremely rare we would crop or modify a photo ourselves, although we would replace a photo if you did the work and sent it to us

You are correct I believe it was 1984 when the Navy stopped issuing Rolex and went to the Gforce.

LOL - Panerai built their fame on being the watch issued to the Italian SEAL equivalent and I always thought it was funny how the luminescence is so bright that someone could easily draw a bead on the guy and pop him.

Actually, the Seals used to be issued Rolex Subs with the red lettering on the dial. I actually worked with a group of Seals that were in charge of scouting training locations, working on counter intelligence and procuring unique equipment for Seal teams (I was CEO of a communications company).

These gentlemen were both wearing the Submariner with the Red Lettering on the dial. To be clear, I never was told that they were "Standard issue", but these SEAL operators did say as a SEAL you could have them gratis, so not sure how that supply works.

The point of all of this is that the more senior of the two officers had 5-6 of these he had purchased through their main supply officer.... WHY you ask- Because our wasteful government was ending the supply of these (around 2006-2007) and so they ordered the Rolexes DESTROYED!!! Yes destroyed!
I am sure that supply officer went ahead and sold a ton of them. I asked my contracts an estimate of how many watches did they think were in supply, they both answered simultaneously- hundreds!

So I would beg the differ on tax payer revolt on over spending- Our government knows no bounds on wasting our money.

Note: For stocking and ordering purposes, the dated Marathon Quartz Navigator NSN 6645-01-364-4042/D is not really different item from the non-dated version, as order forms only allow 13 digits, so the "D" get lost. If you want a date, use the above NSN, if you try to use NIIN 01-364-4042/D, you will probably get a non-dated version, they are more common.

Thanks for your additions, but actually I didn’t miss anything, since I intentionally left out two autos C-Sar & G-Sar (not so common at all), Marathon Type IIs, Smiths, Hamiltons, Benruses, Gallets, Seikos, ChronoSports, Beauchats etc…(which are all obsolute) and all those watches without the NSNs even though they are available via GSA. Cyma and old Precista divers are also pretty much obsolute nowadays. I just listed the most common issue mil watches currently, nothing else.

German armed forces’ wristwatches with the NSNs are stories of their own, IIRC Konrad Knirim has listed them all on his web-site. On the other hand they are relatively easy to list; divers are IWCs (Blancpain FFs and Benruses have been obsolute quite some time already and IWCs on their way being obsolute), “doppel”-chronos (flyback function) are Damaskos?, Tutimas, Heuer-Leonidas, Junghans, Orfinas, Hanharts, Arctos and navigation watches are “old” stuff too; Hamiltons, Gallets and Rolex Explorers.

I was a Marine for 8 years and did three deployments to Helmand Province, Afghanistan at the height of the war and was on a number of CJSOTFs. No one wears rolex while deployed. I owned numerous Rolexes and know of many brothers who were avid collectors. Rolex is never worn in the field and if you ever showed up wearing one you would be crucified and your judgment seriously questioned.

Pilots, ship drivers, and others may be different. But trigger pullers and pipe hitters do not ever wear rolex while deployed.

Suunto and Gshock was pretty much it. having an NSN is meaningless. Companies will apply for an NSN purely for marketing purposes.
