Excellent choices and ideas, to keep the patina whenever possible during restoration, and the perf'd seat inserts. You did it the right way.

We also made Teflon shifter bushings as the original rubber ones are a bit sloppy. This tightened up the shifter nicely.

IIRC, you stated the engine was freshened by Autosport prior to you picking up the car. Have you run the engine that much since then? I guess it's a good idea to check on a newly rebuilt engine. Food for thought for what I will do in about a year so to make sure the fresh engine is doing what it's supposed to.

Auto Sport in Turin. Since then we ran the Historic Targa, Track Tests, and road miles about 2K in total.

We're using 10-60 Helix and she's running great. She'll be out and about this weekend.

She pulls hard. I stop at 7,000 but she's safe to 8+.

That bottom end looks super solid. Anything else being replaced on the bottom end, or are you only replacing part associated to the timing chain issue?

Just going through everything and replacing what makes sense with motor apart as hopefully this will be the last major work on this one for 20 Years.

I'm changing shops, your guys can do a engine in two weeks, and I'm waiting three years, for four carbs and two distributors!

I guess I'll have to figure shipping $$$, but can do a few events before I bring it home!!!

Jim, that work is really incredible. Sorry for asking but was this a major repaint?

No not at all. The rounded button that the wing wire passes through was steel and it caused bimetallic corrosion as it was attached to the the alloy body.

We simply remade the button in alloy and repaired the corrosion under the old button.

    Napolis,

Ultimate in dumb questions.... but when you sat Fiat motor, I seem to remember a Dino 206 having a 206 comp motor, not a Fiat motor.

Looking for engine pics, by ability/dedication to that search is really lame and haven't found them...

What does the engine look like?

There are two cars in this thread.

One is our 1967 Fiat Dino Spyder which has a 2.4 Liter Ferrari engine (Dino) and one is
Dino Competizione 206S which has a 2 Liter Ferrari typo 231B engine which is quite different.

    Both are Yellow.

Here's Dino Competizione's twin spark plug engine.

Soo , this is how the engine in my car looks on the inside... Nice pictures!

How was the general condition of the engine? Did you find any surprises or problems once taken apart? May i ask what the milage (KM's) of the car/engine was? And was it allready been overhauled before?

It wasn't too bad but did have a crack in the front timing chain cover that was leaking oil.

This is the first overhaul. Not sure of current mileage but I think around 25K KLM's.

The entire car is now entirely overhauled and should be good for many miles and years of great driving.
