We're painting our FIAT Dino Spyder Dino Competizione Yellow which is a quite a complex paint system. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, What did that paint system set you back if you don't mind my asking? I'm getting ready to paint my Intermeccanica Apollo and am curious in the price difference between Dupont And PPG. Thanks
ALL the modern low VOC systems are pretty darn pricey these days.......and as you note in your batch there, going from bare metal thru clear coat with totally integrated chemistry is the only way to achieve proper results..... Looks like all you need now, is some elbow grease on the sanding block!! Looking forward to pics....
We're restoring that one in Sicily with the guys who did our 208 GTB Turbo. I'll try to get some photo's. Hope to have her ready for the Historic Targa Florio this year.
Thank you! It is a start for sure Would love to see some more in the future! I'm owner of an Fiat Dino 2400 Coupé and for this reason i love to see , read and hear as much as possible on all Dino-related cars. Dino Spider in the Targa Florio? Another good reason to visit this event some time... First the Mille within a few weeks... Regards, Maarten
Here's one from two years ago that drove the event next to our 208 GTB Turbo. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can't think of a better place to drive such cars... Very nice to see them in their "natural" environment Here's one in yellow. Picture taken at a Dino meet in Holland last year. With "Dino competizione yellow" do you mean the same yellow as on the Dino Competizione prototype? . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, what is the idea behind what looks like a rather complicated system? I would think any paint system could replicate any particular color so it must be something else; Metallic? Depth? Other properties? Is it similar to the system used on the original Dino?
Dino Competizione Yellow is a unique and very cool color. To exactly match it,this is the system that has to be used. Dupont also developed P 4/5 Red for us and it's a similar system. Both Dino Competizione Yellow and P 4/5 Red are proprietary colors and in my 8C which is painted P 4/5 Red there is no paint sticker as the formula is secret. I thought it would be cool to paint our PF FIAT DINO Spyder Dino Competizione Yellow.
What a perfect picture that will be when the Spider is finished... The Competizione and a Fiat Dino sight by sight in the same colour... More pictures of this project are more than welcome!! This Dutch "Dino-nut" can't hardly wait!! Question, normally i can tell the difference by the front-grille. Much harder to see from a bare-metall body... Is it a 2-Liter or a 2.4?
