Hey, "Leslie" made it to SR today and was looking for Ray, Greg, Alex and everyone else with a post-it note. Quite an interesting story Leslie told us.
Ya know, Ray just might have a great idea there. Naked woman details for Ferrari owners, only. As a former detail shop owner, I have to chime in on this one. I enjoy detailing my own cars, but occasionally I do call upon an expert. For perspective, I've never paid anyone over $300 to put a car into Concours condition, and usually I pay $250. Recently, I paid a guy who specializes in detailing F-cars under $200 and he spent four hours on the car. On another car he flawlessly pulled scratches (vandalism) that body shops had quoted me up to $5,000 to repair! I think charging customers by the hour is ridiculous. As someone on this thread already indicated, a great detail can be done in a few hours. I have no problem doing a 2-hour full detail. But you have to know what you're doing and be efficient with your time. If a detailer wants to spend the day on your car, that's his prerogative, but nobody should pay for that time. (There are of course exceptions for specialty work, such as having someone hand saddle soap leather, or some other restorative work) Some guys work fast, some don't. But again, nobody should be penalized for that fact. As far as up front payments for future work, that sounds like a fundraising scheme. Pay as you go. Good luck!
