Somehow I didn't get any pics during the run. I did get these later in the day -- that's Woody himself in the second pic Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great route & event, you couldnt ask for a better day. Jano & I had a blast but we got a little side tracked on Business 287, I think we were running about 2 miles behind you guys during the first leg of the run. Also big thanks for the award, I finally beat Rob Lay at something. Had a great time on the run. I can't wait til the next event I'm able to attend. Many thanks to everyone who had a hand in putting this together, and thanks again to Jimmy for letting me ride shotgun in his car. Oh yeah, and thanks Frances for the free lunch.

THE best rally yet! I laughed my a** off when the guy on the side of the road flipped us girls off after you guys had already blown by (where I missed the turn and had to catchup....oops! ) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome pics guys! Glad you all had a blast, all the time & energy spent planning is worth it when there's a good turnout and everybody has a good time. Everyone says it was the best one yet, that's hard to believe, since the past rallies have been so much fun! One favor to ask: Can everybody post what YOU feel helped to make it a success? Was it the start, stop, and end locations? Which specific roads did you like? What did you like about them? Or was it the "hijinks" that just can't be planned? Since I wasn't able to be there this time, it will help us plan for future rallies if you could post some specifics.
Since this was my first one, I can't compare to others, but I can give some feedback based on my experience this year. The start point was good, lots of space, not as far away as I thought it was, and there was a restroom available (I drank a Power Size Jamba Juice on the ride down). The route was very good. There seemed to be a minimum of main roads, and only one section I can recall with any congestion. The first section (FM 879, I think of the second leg was very nice, with the exception of a few big pickups we had to "deal with." Overall, just the right amount of driving, I think. Nice scenery, and some very nice, fun roads. The end point was okay, lunch was fine, and the drive back wasn't too bad. Of course, having taken 1st place in the "skills" competition (in part due to Jason Miller's non-participation in one event), I can't really complain. I definitely plan to attend the next run. Just make sure the weather is as nice as it was this time, as I will most likely be in a British car, and we all know how they can be when it rains...
These were definitely some of the best driving roads we've ever had for a DFW rally. Tillman's fall rally up NW into southern Oklahoma is close though. Good directions, good roads, good stops, and good people makes for a great event. Officer: Were you driving on the shoulder? Driver X: No! Officer: Were you passing over double lines? Driver X: No! Officer: Were you running people off the road? Driver X: No! Officer: We clocked you going 157? Driver X: Yes, we did do that. Officer: OK, have a good day, drive safe. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My son and I had a great time. Good turnout with a nice variety of cars. Starting point was a nice location, and a mid-point stop was a nice touch. The backyard birthday games provided just the level of silliness that fits with this great group. A little levity is always nice in a very serious world. The route was nice, with a good mix of roads. (Too bad we can't arrange for a street sweeper, the car got clobbered with some pretty large rocks and gravel) I wish we could have stayed for the second leg of the tour, but my son had a soccer game to get to. All in all, a well organized run. Sincerely, Driver X PS: Getting out of a 157 MPH ticket was pretty good too!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like a lot of fun was had by all, great pictures--wish we could have made it. I assume Nick kept his undercarriage intact.
Something metal under my car took a beating. I think it was Midlothian going under 30 mph. Too busy looking around and the right lane had a huge crown where heavy trucks had sunk in either side. No visible damage underneath, I think it just scraped a cross bar. Nicola saw dust come out from the hit. Ouch, what a terrible sound, but maybe only a scrape if anything. I did a speed test afterwards to check everything out.
shirt is awesome..I wore mine to the gym tonite as a matter of fact. My second favorite to the shirt from the Fall Rally. Thanks Ryan for all the hard work!!! Now, if only you could actually participate in one of the Rally's you design shirts for.
I made a small video and uploaded it. here is the link. Ignore the sloppy editing but enjoy the white countach! No license plates are visible. http://media.putfile.com/DFW-Ferrariclub-Primavera-Texana-del-Motore-April-29th-2006
