Recently I bought a Porsche 928 from Greysonline . The car was previously registered in SA and now it’s in Melbourne getting some work done. I am trying to find the compliance plate so I can get it road registered in Melbourne . any idea how I can replace the compliance plate ? Can we do it by searching the previous registration number ? Anyone can help . Thanks in Advance
I believe it is . Any way I can find out with the Govt database ? Since it had a number plate prior to the sale . WPOZZZ92ZBS841007 Is the VIN number . nice 928 you posted
Call or email Porsche Australia with the VIN number, they will tell you where the car was delivered The vin number you posted is a 1981 model. The pic in the other thread shows an S4 front end which didn’t come out till 1986, so something isn’t right
I'm not aware of any vehicle manufacturer that will (re) issue a compliance plate for a car. Compliance plates are either fitted to the car at manufacture or when the car is complied to meet Australian ADR's by a RAW https://raws.infrastructure.gov.au/ . Compliance plates have been fitted to vehicles in Australia since the late 1960..... Standardised 17 digit VIN's came in to use from around 1981 and became widespread by the mid 1980's. A personal import car probably won't have a compliance plate if it was imported prior to August 1989. M
A person I know had a car in a major accident. Not a ferrari or classic, recent model ford. As part of the repair work, the area of the car with the compliance plate was actually replaced. When he picked the car up he noticed there was no compliance plate. Long discussions ensued with the insurance company, repairer, RMS etc (NSW). He was told it is not possible to replace a compliance plate, but he was given a certificate of compliance, which is required to be carried in the vehicle. He was very unhappy with the solution.
Can it be complianced by a workshop as if it is a first- time import? As in, my 308 has an original compliance plate BUT before it could be first registered in Qld it had to have a Qld compliance plate where various stuff were checked / changed to comply. The bits I recall off hand were seatbelts and side intrusion bars in the doors.
I have been issued a Compliance Certificate for my car but need to be issued by A RMS Engineer which it must remain in the car always and is noted on your rego papers
blue plate; the RAW system Mike mentioned; don’t know if it would be an alternative or not since the porker is over 25 years old?
