The registration form makes it very clear that cars will not be allowed to leave before 3:00PM. I have decided to be a spectator this year.

That's the same with me. Last year, I brought my Lamborghini Countach which was the prototype LP5000S. It had extra thin aluminum bodywork. When I learned that hail was moving in, it was time for me to go. The organizer got extremely mad at me, yelled at me to no end, and tried to block me from leaving. I eventually got out of there and got the car home to my garage less than 5 minutes before the hail hit. Seriously. That could have been a VERY expensive day for me.

The year before I was asked to bring my 1973 Porsche Carrera RS for the special 911 display and I obliged to help the charity. The point is, I have done what I can to be a good participant and help. I don't participate to show off my cars. I do it for the community and the cause. If someone is going to berate me for trying to protect my property, then I'm done with it, especially after the way I was treated.

Hail would/could be a nightmare.... hoping it doesn't come to that....the concours should allow for an "emergency exit plan" if damaging weather should approach as it is the cars that make the show....without the participants and their cars they have nothing

Just got a bit hail here in Highlands Ranch, I think I'll still enter my car if the weather forecast for that day is sunny with 0% chance of rain :)

Hopefully the chance of hail two years in a row is slight, gambler's fallacy be damned ;) Anyhow I volunteered to do some judging to help pass the time.

Sorry to hear about your experience sherpa, they basically have no right to hold you there. Especially since they almost certainly have no liability. Glad to hear you continue to support the event anyway. You're a good egg.

And this is why I quit putting my car in as well. I had a very similar experience to Ryan with my 348 a few years back. Had an event person literally walking along side my car yelling at me as I was driving out. I got home and pulled in to the garage and the hail started coming down right after I climbed out of the car. I'll show up for the walk through, but no more putting cars in that show. :(

Anyone care to join me for lunch at Platte River Grill?

I like Ronnie's plan as well .....I too signed up for some judging so I guess if the weather forecast is bad whomever is crazy enough to show up wins :)

I'll be there with the Daytona….but i'll have a covered truck to throw it in just in case the hail comes like last year. Last year was nerve wracking to say the least. Two of us dove under some of the tents and pushed people out. We told the bystanders to run to the buildings, as it is a little tough to drive a car through a door. The guys that left did the right thing…..nothing is worth that kind of hail damage. Bring moving blankets.
