I would like to order a Blendmount for a Valentine radar detector. Prior posts have reported that the Blendmount BV1-2000A (now BV1-2000R) has worked. This part number is evidently for Acuras. The Blendmount website has photos of this mount installed and the mirror stem in the picture looks much thicker than our tappered mirror stem.

Can any members confirm this part number or provide additional information on which Blendmount works in our 458?

I have a Valentine One in my Speciale. But rather than mount it up high under the rearview mirror, I put it all the way forward sitting on the center of the dashboard pushed up against the windshield using the suction cup mount to secure it in place (it looks surprisingly "clean").

What makes this set up work well is Valentine's optional Remote Audio Adapter. I attached the RAA underneath the center console (with velcro) which makes it very easy to control the V1 radar detector (mute the alerts, control the volume, etc.). You can easily reach and control the knob on the RAA "by feel" so you never have to take your eyes off the road to control the V1. And the RAA sits under the center console just enough to not be visible.

BTW, I had a stereo installer run the V1 power cable down through the ducts near the windshield to a power source that turns on/off when the ignition key.

Note: Ignore the various cables and wires in the attached picture. I temporarily Mickey Moused the installation myself to try everything out before I had a pro clean up all the wiring :)

I don't have a picture handy to show the V1 sitting on the center dashboard.

I installed a V1 in my 2010 458 and the mount you are being directed to is the correct one. It is a tight fit and does a good job of holding the detector tight up against/close to the bottom of the mirror. My problem was that the V1 was constantly going off due to other cars with driver assist packages so I went with a different system on the '13 458.

You're V1 may not have the latest upgrades. I had mine upgraded and it solved a lot of those false alerts you mentioned.

We had all of ours upgraded and they just never worked as well as we thought they should have. Most of our driving is city driving so they went off almost 90% of the time! I loved the V1's for years but went with the Escort Max 360. Way fewer false alarms and it has the arrows.

I do most of my driving in Southern California, and I have V1's in all of my cars. They work great for me here. Love the arrows :)

I'd been a long long time V1 user but I recently switched to the Passport Max360 and my opinion is the V1 was the best detector of the 20th Century but the Escort is the best so far of the 21st. I ran them next to each other for a week- it wasn't even close. Its got better range, better accuracy, and so much better anti-falsing. You really can't compete with the GPS based system. It also tells you about speed traps, speed cameras, red light cameras etc. And if you enable the app it will work like a radar detector version of Waze. I found the app kept the detector yapping at me though so I turned it off.

Does anyone know if the BV1-2001 works as well for the 488?
