We didn't have a general thread for Blackhawk Museum Cars & Coffee, so this is it. Here is a link to the website: Blackhawk Museum Cars & Coffee Website Here is a pin on Google maps: Location of Blackhawk Museum The event is from 8:00AM to 10:00 AM on the first Sunday of each month. There is no pre-registration or entry fee: just show up. If you have an intereesting car (and the definition of that is very liberal), you can park with the pack. When there, most people just wander around and oogle cars. There is always some crazy stuff that comes. You can come and go as you please. These sorts of events wax and wain in popularity. Currently the Blackhawk Museum Cars & Coffee is in a hayday; about 650 cars show up each month. 2015 looks like a good year, but nothing lasts forever. If you live anywhere near the San Francisco Bay Area, you gotta come; this is a great event.
thanks for the heads up. I have been to a couple of Santana Row gatherings and these informal events tend to be fun. I will probably bring the 360 or the Caddy convert (it has been lonely under the cover in the rain).
I plan on being there this Sunday, it's a great meet. Another heads up- it's pretty packed by 8:00am.
See you guys tomorrow. "Brian Harper" and "BLACK HORSE" also are planning on attending. There are always more of us too.
Great turn out today, lots of 3x8 cars. Some iPhone coverage, only took pics of the F-Cars, Italians and some notables: Full album here (sorted by make): https://www.flickr.com/photos/dgatan/sets/72157649708217190/ Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome pix / awesome event. My favorite this month were the two Aston Martin DB2s. Jessup: It was great talking to you.
I drove there and back with the roof off. I'll admit it, I was cold on the way there. But the cold didn't seem to dampen the turn-out one bit. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
http://www.driftspec.org/trending/brand-new-bmw-m4-crash-wrecks-while-showing-off-up-up-and-away this happened yesterday. Shame.
LMAO!! Whats astonishing is how the front wheels didn't disintegrate yet stayed in complete tact. The car drove off as if nothing happened...
What did he lose underneath...? SV He never tried to correct the slide once it started. Dude needs a HPD course...
The driver tried to come clean on a forum, check out his explanation. Blamed everything on the car and wouldn't admit to showing off SMH M4 loses control leaving Cars and Coffee, hits median, gets airborne. Owner explains.
Traction control must be manually disengaged. He says that it was turned off. Cold pavement + cold tires + lotsa HP - Traction Control = Spin
I have almost lost it under similar conditions with traction control (ASR) turned ON in my 550, with far more horsepower and possibly softer tires. Cold pavement and cold tires are not a good combination if you need traction. There is no doubt that he hit the gas too hard and too fast. Looking at the slow motion, it looks like his tires are cocked slightly to the right as the car spins left, but obviously not enough. He doesn't hit the brakes until he's about perpendicular to the lanes. I give him credit for not hitting that sign and stopping before he hit the tree. Super lucky that there were no cars on the road when he crossed the divider. Aside from hitting the gas too hard, his biggest mistake was turning off MDM. From his post on the BMW forum: "More judicious use of the throttle should have been exercised. MDM mode was not used because MDM is too quick to intervene and cuts power prematurely (or maybe not)." Yup, that just about sums it up. I think that next time he will let MDM intervene, as it's supposed to. It has to intervene quickly so that it can save you while it still can. The only place I turn my ASR off is at the track, where there are no curbs or fence posts and when my tires are warmed up.
crap like this will end cars and coffee event at Blackhawk for us all who regulary attend every month... what an idiot!!!!!
