Interested to know the forums take on the best colour for the F12. To me black loses all the lines judging from photos of the show car, whereas the matt aluminium looks great but at an outrageous price. I am leaning towards dark blue or one of the reds but then yet to see a car in the flesh.

Any thoughts on colour bearing in mind look as well as cost?

Rather than point to any specific color, here are some general impressions and "guidelines."

As you say, black tends to wash out the intricacies of the design. Normally the bigger V12s look great in dark grays and blues but the F12 design is more complex than the earlier, perhaps cleaner designs of the past. So I would be careful about going too dark because of the effect you observe in black. If I were to order one I would seriously consider a medium blue or gray, with Grigio Silverstone being as dark as I would go, maybe too dark.

And then there are the reds. I think that the reds strike a good balance between the sportiness of white, yellow and bright blues, and the formality of the dark grays, blues, and blacks. But I would not do an F12 in Corsa. That is very sporty and really looks better on the smaller Ferraris. I would opt for the slightly more orangey Rossa Berlinetta or the darker Rossa Fuoco or tri color Rossa Maranello.

I would avoid the fussiness of any matte paint job at any cost, opting for a wrap if I wanted that look for awhile.

    Hope this helps.

I would get one in a burgundy with tan interior. That would really make it pop and be elegant as well.

I'd go Bianco Avus. White shows all the lines, no extra cost like matte aluminum. And with Ferrari's new styling cues, beginning with 458, i like the white.

I think Mugello/Cuoio would work really well. It would show the lines and make it look like an elegant GT.

TdF blu tends to hide the lines a bit so probably Grigio Titanium which really shows the lines well.
For a red the 'out of range' Rosso Fiorano has long been a favourite. As you know cuoio goes well with all three of those colors...

Silver of any kind. It makes the curves in the rear end just look fantastic.

There you go. You have a vote for pretty much very color. In the end you have to let it soak for awhile and go with your gut. It is hard to make a mistake.

Great insights and post. Thank you. On my 458 bicolor I have a black roof with the triple red of "2007 F1 Rosso" otherwise known as Nuevo Rosso Scuderia.

Yep a darker triple red sounds perfect for the F12

Grigio Abu Dhabi would be my choice.....looks like a triple layer version of Argento but slightly warmer in tone and much deeper and more metallic so alot more alive and not as flat looking.

Interesting post to read all different opinions,

I was just talking to my dealer about seriously ordering the F12, and seems like my delivery will be yearend of 2013 and or spring of 2014... Anyhow, after playing around the Ferrari.com's F12 configurator... I started to like ROSSO the most, than I changed my preference to NERO... than to BIANCO... but finally it comes down to Silver...

So I will go with Silver final bet....

Matte red always looks "pink" to me.
