I have been through this conversation maybe 20 times over the years, and I still don't have a clear definition. Some paint experts suggest painting the doors on the car is better, for flow and consistency in paint. Others have said, doors off the car for the same reason and getting inside better. Do you recommend one over the other? Are some cases different ? Why do you prefer this process with the doors off the car over not on ? Thank you for answering - btw awesome looking , and I enjoy your picture process posts !
If you paint the doors on the car, you will have to remove them to install the rubber section that goes on the leading edge. Twice the risk... Regards, Alberto
Hello Steve! Are you back, or, were you ever gone? I need a paint sample, can you provide one, it needs to be the size of a door. Regards, Alberto
I love these threads! How long did it take to lay all the parts on the floor in the photo at the top of this page?
The Dino has been in the paint stage at Brad's for the last week. Sealer, base color and clear. Still needs all the satin trim, color sanding and buff. I expect to start reassembly the first week of January. Another outstanding paint job by Brad! Do the black cars get satin black on the bottom of the body like all the other colors? Or is it all left gloss black? The mix would seem a little strange...
I picked up the body from Brad and back to my shop to start reassembly. I think the owner will be thrilled with the paint job!! It's absolutely gorgeous. With a red interior it will be a showstopper. I'm a sucker for a nice red interior in any car.
it is like a black dress....elegant shines when accessaries are on... then it stands out from the rainbow crowd

Wow! They look great in black.. Here's a shout out to hopefully someone doing one someday in metallic black.. It wouldn't be original but it would look awesome..
I always find the process of restoration even more exciting than the finished product, and Jon has created a system that manages to look so methodical as to appear easy...clearly NOT the case.....immense skill and sensitivity are involved. We hear so much about "branding" in business, entertainment and even sports nowadays, and Jon has created the ultimate Dino restoration brand. As we enjoy seeing these most gorgeous of cars, one after the other, coming through his spotless shop, with the photos of the replated parts all lined up like a massive Tamiya kit, if the question were asked, "Where should I have my Dino restored?", we'd all know the answer. And I dig the black paint. Best regards, John.
The engine was out when the car came to me. It's being done by a shop in Los Angeles. I hope to deliver the car to the engine guy in a couple of weeks.
