Aston Martin Sportshift transmission questions

So, I'm watching out for nice DB9's and V8V's in the market. I have questions about the Sportshift tranny and am not sure I want one based on my readings so far.. Having said that, I've come across a very nice 2012 V8V which I read was the first year tor the Sportshift II transmission. So my question to those who have owned or driven cars with the Sportshift I and Sportshift II transmissions : Is there a significant difference between them and if you think so, what's your impression? I'm particularly interested in Sportshift II in slow speed maneuvering and then whether it is really necessary to lift a bit when shifting in sport mode. I find that odd as I don't need to do that with my Egear system in my '06 Gallardo. If any Egear drivers have driven the Sportshift box I'd really like to hear your impressions.
