Thanks Greg, but a black rocker panel on this car would look good if the car was black ;~).
I know what you mean though like the one in this photo., but its not for me, I love it the way it is. To be honest, I didn't care about restoring it to how it came out of the factory but more to my taste from "soucorp designs", always unique and cool.

    Cheers!

    That's truly awesome my friend.

I shake my head to the speed you got that done in, I can only think of your neighbor and what his thoughts are to your accomplishment.

    Great job, enjoy!!

Ps, do a video clip of it running, no music, I'd like to hear that little 4 pot purrrrr

Thanks Ted, its not all done, I have to do a coolant flush, install new thermostat and lower hose, looks like mine is pinched in not giving enough flow so at a stand still, the temp rises.
Need to work on the driving video mount, but here's another with no music with some footage my son took in the car. We need to get his camera skills up, lol.
    Cheers.

Yesterday I started the SU Carb HS2 rebuilding. Ordered the kit, but besides the bad and stuck jets that Dave helped me resolve, this puppy is in great shape. A good cleaning today until the new parts come in.

BTW, I want to polish up the dashpots made of aluminum on my Midget. I hear Autosol metal polish is really good for this, (using a dremel tool/drill/grinder wheel) with polisher head on it. If I get amazing results, I want to polish up the valve cover on the Mondial as well.

    Anyone have any other recommendations.

    Thanks.

    Update:

Finally got my SU Carb rebuild kit and worked on my lil car over the weekend.
Put her all back in and now she starts with one crank with choke pulled out. Works like a charm! Again thanks to Dave for helping find the problem. I still need to do valve clearance and static timing but this puppy is done and will be reliable for years to come!

    PV,
The engine looks similar to the one on my side car.
Btw, even though it had a total restoration a year ago it is still a "project" needing constant tinkering!
    Cheers,

It is a 1993 R100R. It was a retro model in 93 to look like one build in the early 70's. It has 92K miles on it and about every seal was weepy so the engine comes out and I tear it down to get to and replace all the seals. Carbs to be rebuilt and at 92K I may have the heads reworked. Ran fine when I pulled it apart but it was due for service. I don't ride as much as I used to (or should I say now that I own my Mondial) so I figure if I clean it up I'll be good for many years to come. Won't restore it, I'm good with the patina of age on it. I just don't want it to leak oil. It left a quarter size spot of oil most times I parked it.

Last trip home I pulled the heads. I'm trying to get the timing cover off but it needs to be heated as its an interference fit onto a bearing. That will be next time home.

Yours is definately an oldie. I'd like to get something 50's or 60's with the earles front end. But we'll see how I do on fixing my current project. It is this winters project. The Mondial has been pushed off to next winter for another looking over.

Wow - what wonderful restorations on here.

Since Mondial #75039 went off to Chicago to its new loving home, I did finally need something else to while away hours in the garage, although somewhat more inexpensively. Going back to my teenage years, I found a modest little coupe - a 1972 Euro (Italian market) BMW 3.0 CSi. Currently slowly going through the body, suspension and interior. Making the move from multiple Webers to the "modern" Bosch D-Jetronic is requiring some serious study. It actually is about the same size as the Mondial, but with a big greenhouse. Certainly tiny when parked next to almost all modern BMWs. Friends, let me tell you, it is a 70s time machine - from the way it drives, feels and looks all the way down to the original working Blaupunkt Frankfurt AM/FM/SW radio - it is a scream to drive.

The suspension is a bit tired at 40 years old, so new springs, shocks and f/r roll bars. What is amazing is the relative tiny costs on this car compared to the Ferrari. That said, it will have some Ferrari-based influences - I am designing an exhaust for the BMW six that strongle resembles 1/2 of a 365/GTC/4 system...

Anyway, here are a couple of pics:

Nice side car bike there Greg. I know what you mean about not having much time to ride after getting the Mondial PV. I sold my Suzuki cruiser right before getting Robin but that was alot of fun.

Russ, that Beemer 3.0 sure is purdy. Hope you get her restored soon, love to see more pics...

    Cheers

No winterizing here guys... rebuilt my su carbs and nicely polished engine bay... Since bought, I've redone the interiors, installed new fuel pump, new clutch slave cylinder, new points, condenser, plugs, rotor, fuses, dash cover, fluid change, new generator and battery... countless other details...

Amazing little car and engine this Midget is, love the simple engine design of the past.

The Mondial is running perfectly, but I do still have the dreaded rear window motors to sort out. :(

That is pretty sweet Ted, but it would cost me too much money and time to make mine as good. But sure, if I had the resources, I definitely would. That photo is of a 67 MGB engine bay but museum condition alright. Maybe when I decide to sell, the next owner can take it to that level of restoration. :)

WOW. that is perfect. If i was going to have red on any car of mine, thats an acceptable level :)

Are you saying the one in the field down the road is the same year as this one pictured?

Now that you have been down this road, what would that car sell for? (black one) or better yet, what would it take to bring one, found in a field, to that level?
