Things seem to be coming down. Just watched a 6-speed, low mileage 575 Superamerica sell for 520,000 Euros + commission, and then saw what was described as a beautiful and correct 275 GTB alloy 6 cam sell for 2,850,000 Euros + commission. Both are below their estimates, and the 275 last sold for 3,416,000 Euros in 2016 with commission, well above its high estimate.

An alloy 6C torque tube no less. A bit softer for sure but not disastrous.

I meant to say 6 carb, not 6 cam, and the seller lost at least 16%, not sure how much RM takes out of the seller's piece.

I don't have a crystal ball, but I wouldn't want to be last one out of the pool either if I was someone who bought tehse for investments. Let's just call them yield tourists.

I believe RM's standard seller's commission is 10%? That's sometimes negotiable for special cars.

According to Hammer Price, the ‘66 275GTB at RM today didn’t make a sale. High Bid was $3,238,8902. Est had it at $3.409-$3.750m.

Does anyone know how much the SP30 was bid and if that was close to expectation- and/or how much it was expected to bring?

Expectation was 4 to 5 million euros (according to Classic Driver, not Sotheby's) and hammered at 1,95 M€ and mentioned "still for sale" on Sotheby"s web site

Problem is the 275 was acquired at the Duemilla Route sale where the buyer spent the market high 3.4 mil. EUROs and has since had other expenses so likely wanted to recoup his expenditure. Thats not unfair BUT the market has softened and he did overpay in '16 so unfortunately will either have to wait for another Ferrari bull market OR take a haircut.

RM sale in Retro commission is 15% on buyers side, not 10% that was quoted previously

Seller's commission is always a negotiation although some auction companies have a firm policy of flat 10% on No Reserve lots with estimates under $200-250,000. An auctioneer will drop the seller's commission on the block in some situations to hammer a lot sold. In that case they just take the Buyer's commission.

Regarding Ferrari, today's Bonhams auction was nothing else than a catastrophy.

+1 absolutely the sell through rate must be pretty low.

The seller took the latter route. Sold for €2.86mm. Not sure what the seller's commission was, but a fairly steep hit from the Due Mille Ruote price where he/she bought it.
