I have a compressor that is leaking and this spring looking to address that. Looking at options out there that are not paying the Ferrari tax for an OEM part. I see rebuild services on ebay that can be had for 4-500 bucks. Some new options for $600ish. Anyone out there go a different direction than OEM and had good success?

I had a company in Nevada named Ranshu rebuild mine about 2 years ago for not much. I don't remember the amount but it was cheap enough I remember that I could have it rebuilt a stupid amount of times before the cost equated to a new compressor. No leaks so far.

Two well known are Compressor International in southern CA and Polar Bear, I forget where but should be easy to find.

I guess I am more curious about new compressors that are not much more than what a rebuild costs.... My concern is that most of these compressors seem to come from China.... I guess I don't know all that goes into compressor rebuilds to know if rebuilding one is making is essentially as good as a new one?

I believe with mine they just replaced some seals and cleaned it up. You might want to contact them directly and ask, I think they would be willing to get into details.

If the compressor is working fine, then the internals are fine. A leak is usually the shaft seal so get it rebuilt.

Most good Ferrari techs can rebuild compressors. Mine did. Ask yours.

Looks like Compressor International allows you to buy the service right on ebay and send it off to them so it seems I will be doing just that. There are some services a little cheaper but their feedback is better overall.

Just to wind this down, I bought the compressor international service on ebay. Shipped it out Thursday afternoon from Michigan and got an email before end of day Friday it was fixed and being shipped out by end of day. Delivered to me on Tuesday for my mechanic to put it back in. Very happy with their service.
